February 2010

This is truly one of the best collections I've seen that is Makeup for Dummies worthy. The Bobbi Brown Color Strips Collection launches in time for Spring 2010, and each strip has hand-picked shades that complement each other beautifully for eyes, lips and cheeks. There are...

Carousel World\'s First Cordless Flat Iron I was always scared of flat irons. Cobwebs, haunted houses, the Bogey Man --all of them couldn't hold a candle to the fear I experienced when thinking of using a flat iron to straighten my hair. Let's put it this way: I generally shy away from all heat-related appliances (including blow dryers -- I try to air dry my hair as much as possible to enhance longevity). Yes, I know, it's an irrational fear (almost as irrational as the fear that you'll get a zit from eating dark chocolate or cooties from kissing a dog on the nose). But luckily, Carousel Strands's Straight Away Pro Cordless Flat Iron (yup, it's cordless, and yup, you can stow it in your pocketbook) was the first flat iron I learned to fully trust and not fear. Because it's easier than using the ABACUS, people! Carousel World\'s First Cordless Flat Iron When you first get the flat iron, you'll need to charge it (it's easy - just a couple of hours will do the trick). Then, see those three buttons up there? Those are all you need. Press the button that says "ON" and press it again to activate the temperature. The ceramic plates are coated with Tourmaline (which means they won't singe your strands and fry your cuticle), and in a very short amount of time, the temperatures can reach up to 260 degrees and 410 degrees Fahrenheit (you can see the temperature changing rapidly before your eyes on the screen - see below). Carousel World\'s First Cordless Flat Iron To open the flat iron, you'll have to turn that silver knob to the right. It's a neat way to open and shut the cordless Straight Away Pro which weighs literally next to nothing. Carousel World\'s First Cordless Flat Iron Carousel World\'s First Cordless Flat Iron The neat thing about this flat iron is that it REMEMBERS (unlike the movie Memento, it doesn't do a patchy, skittish job. It actually remembers the last temperature you used and automatically increases until then - you can increase or decrease the temperature as you like).
It's been a wild wild ride at the Carmex Lip Balm Labs since 1937, when Alfred Woelbing - the inventor of Carmex® Lip Balm - first experimented with lip hydration in his kitchen. Carmex Lip Balm Carmex Lip Balms From pouring lip balms into iconic opal glasses to where Carmex is today is a mighty lesson in history. I for one am OBSESSED with Carmex. Almost as OBSESSED as I am with the quest for flawless skin and 24, Mad Men and my secret plot to start a ranch exclusively for Golden Retrievers. But, more about that later. Cupid Why do I love Carmex so much? It keeps chapped lips and cold sores at bay. It's as inexpensive as a cup of Starbucks latte in the state of Kansas. It has several yummy flavors and comes in various dispensing methods - from tubes to tubs. Honestly, what's not to love? In 1988, Carmex Lip Balm said hello to the world in the form of squeezable tubes (this was the first revolutionary packaging change in 50 years. In 1999 the Chapstick applicator was born with SPF 15. In 2002 flavor became a punchline in the Carmex Lip Balm labs with "mint" sticks joining the regulars. In 2006, the Carmex flavors Strawberry and Cherry said hello to the world, by popular vote. In 2008 the first new product line in more than 70 years was introduced - the Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm. This premium offering has this convenient slant-tip silver applicator. Carmex Products That I Love Original Carmex The Original Carmex Jar and the Cherry Carmex Jar are as retro as the Model T but so darn functional. There are two jars on my nightstand and I swear my husband's been stealing some (he pleads he didn't inhale).

No one wants to be as pale as alabaster during the summer months. I'm all for porcelain, white swans and Snow-White complexions but the truth of the matter is most fair-skinned goddesses (and I swear I went through a phase in my childhood where I...

Guerlain Summer 2010 Teracotta Collection Oh these browns, these dark sienna colors are driving me crazy because they remind me of all the foods and places I adore: cafe lattes, the color of the sand in Goa, India, the shade of clay pots drying in the sun (hence the name Terracotta). The Guerlain Summer 2010 Terracotta Collection has: 1. Six gorgeous Guerlain Terracotta lip glosses with SPF 15. Feast your eyes on them, darlings, because I'd like to drink them up in pitchers because the colors range from sand to a raspberry brown. And the Oriental packaging, with the pentagonal handle, is a beaut. 2. The luminous bronzed moisturizer (Terracotta Teint D’Ailleurs) contains SPF 10, and let me tell you, skin going naked without SPF in the summer is like you going to the office with no clothes on. No bueno. Guerlain Summer 2010 Teracotta Collection

Feeling tribal? Then add a touch of Alexandre Herchcovitch to your Fall 2010 wardrobe. It's color without compromise, texture with spunk and PUNK. The makeup was done by Philip for MAC Cosmetics, who described the look as a tiny part punk, a tiny part tribal, but...

This is a guest post from my lovely friend, Diane Az from The Beauty Alchemist. Chris Benz Fall 2010 Chris Benz Fall 2010
Chris Benz's inspiration for Fall 2010 Fashion Week was the Outward Bound Debutante. The girl who gets in trouble at her private school and gets sent to wilderness camp. You know her, the one who takes her stillettos , not realizing she'll not quite need those.
Chris Benz Fall 2010
While backstage I not only got to meet the friendly and extremely calm Mr. Benz , but also a peek at a few pieces hanging on the racks. I love the plaid , it's retro, almost 60s, but I love plaid and the jeweled collars were such a wow. There was also a great metallic infused knit top, that is classic american sportswear. ( But please don't ask about those fur mittens. I don't do fur and I really don't do those).
Chris Benz Fall 2010 Daniel Martin of Lancome created the look , along with Chris and calls it Gothic Chic. He went for a brown lip, very 90s, but made more modern. To get that lip he used a brow pencil and then a new for fall bronze lipstick. He explains the brow pencil technique in my video, posted separately. We have been seeing and he agreed, that this is an upcoming trend possibly. An also new for fall eyeshadow was used and the blush is one of my all time favorites- Cappucine.

Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs are a hot, hip young duo who graduated from the Parson's School of Design. While they may be relative dilettantes in Fashion Week, their style stems from inspiration of films, photography. In their own words, the Cushnie and Ochs woman...
