May 2010

In its annual Beauty Awards issue, Women's Health gives us their professional recommendations on products they vet from a list of more than 100 newcomers on the market, and the list amounted to an impressive 55. Want to know what they were and their rationale? We weigh the results. Hair The editors were crazy about Catwalk by Tigi Curlesque Strong Mousse for Curly Hair; Umberto Beverly Hills Dry Clean Dry Shampoo; Aveeno Nourish + Shine Shampoo and Conditioner for shine boosting; and Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair for leave-in conditioner. We love the Aveeno Nourish + Shine combination because the hair is extraordinarily silky and soft after use --like chartreuse. Face Editors loved the Jurlique Fruit Enzyme Exfoliator; Origins Start Over Age-Erasing Moisturizer with Mimosa; Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew The Brusher Gel-Cleanser and Patricia Wexler Dermatology Intensive Deep Wrinkle Treatment. We agree with the pick of Origins and Patricia Wexler. Origins has never failed to surprise us with their soothing and delightful treats, from their Peace of Mind gumballs to their mimosa moisturizer (you can skip the drink at brunch). Wexler's Intensive Deep Wrinkle Treatment worked for us, and is great for people of all ages. Body Editors picked St. Ives Intensive Healing Hand Cream, Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 60 for Face/Body; Jo Malone London Vanilla & Anise Body Cream for Best Smelling Scent and Flora by Gucci for Sexiest New Scent. We can't get over anything by Jo Malone, and although we haven't tried this body cream, the name sounds absolutely delish -- like a scoop of ice cream. Makeup We looked at all the picks (readers, experts and editors), and agree with and love these makeup items. Okay, CoverGirl LashBlast Volume mascara brings out the best in all of our lashes. And Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil is really something else. There's nothing that beats MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack for eyeliner, and we give kudos to the experts for picking that. As we absolutely agree with their pick of Guerlain's Terracotta Bronzing Powder and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
