(Review) The Body Shop Launches Nutriganics Skincare Line With Celebrity Facialist Molly Walsh

Let’s be honest, ladies, we’d all like skin like a celebrity’s, right? Right. Who wouldn’t? I’m always amazed at the perfect skin on stars like Taylor Swift or Amanda Seyfried and can’t help but feel a little bit envious when I see them.

So when I got invited to meet celebrity esthetician Molly Walsh at an event for The Body Shop in Boston, I was psyched. Named ““the facialist to the stars who works her magic” by the Hollywood Reporter trade newspaper, Molly boasts a client list including stars like Brooke Shields, Jim Carrey, and Maria Sharapova. Molly was on hand to give private skincare consultations with some of The Body Shop’s newest product launches.

I took a test drive of some of the products from The Body Shop’s Nutriganics™ line, a certified organic skincare collection that addresses the first signs of aging. Although I’m not too concerned about anti-aging just yet, I have been wondering what I should be doing to prevent it. I was really pleased with the light, silky feel that the products had on my skin. Unlike many other skincare products, the Nutriganics™ products Molly used left my skin feeling moisturized but not greasy or weighed down.

What I also loved about this line is its strength: A little dab really will do ya, ladies. And hey, I can’t lie, I’m also digging the organic ingredients!

After introducing me to the Nutriganics™ line, Molly showed me some products from The Body Shop’s Natrulift line, a new firming facial skincare regime. Natrulift products feature pomegranate extract, The Body Shop’s natural alternative to retinol, and claim to soften wrinkles in four weeks. While these products are better for those with more defined signs of aging (think 40s, ladies) I was still pretty impressed, once again, with their light and airy feel. We tested some out on my hand and it was left feeling silky and smooth. Not bad, right?

While we chatted, I picked up a few expert tips from Molly for how to achieve celebrity-worthy, glowing skin! Here you go, darlings, read on:

  1. Try a Bit of Toner: If you’re fairly low maintenance with your skincare regimen, you might not use a toner. And hey, some of you might even not know what they are. But Molly taught us the importance of toners, telling us they balance the PH level of the skin and “prepare skin for the next product.”
  2. Afer cleansing, your skin’s PH levels are off balance, so using a toner can help regulate them. Try a product like Nutriganics Refreshing Toner ($14.00) that uses citrus and aloe vera to cleanse and soothe the skin. Apply using a cotton pad all over your face and neck.
  3. Forget peer pressure, try eye pressure: Many of us have no clue how to apply eye creams. We’ve all heard mixed reviews telling us to do one thing or another, but what’s the best way to apply that little magic elixir we like to call eye cream? Well, Molly recommends applying from the outer corner of your eye inward. And don’t be afraid to use a little pressure, ladies. Taking your ring finger, tap the cream and lightly massage into the skin. This will help increase circulation and drain any nasty fluids you’ve got building up. Do this in the morning and before bed. Try Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream ($20.00).
  4. Sponge Effect: You know how the skin on your body always seems to respond better to lotions and creams right after a shower? Well, the skin on your face works the same way. Wet skin soaks up liquids like a sponge, so take advantage of this effect and apply any serums right after your toner. Continue by applying your moisturizer right away.
