The first dermatologist developed and #1-selling moisturizer in America makes the news again. This iconic lotion has been dermatologist-reformulated to deliver even more dramatically different results:

54% improvement in skin’s barrier strength in 8 weeks without changing the famously silky texture.
• Double the moisturization levels for comfortably hydrated skin all day without an extra drop of oil.

BeautyStat’s very own Nicole Gordon Levine was able to get her hands on the NEW Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ and had this to say about it:

I received this stunningly packaged product a little early, and it was like seeing an old friend again. In the mid to late ‘90s, I had practiced the three-step program, and until recently started opening up my skincare regimen partially due to this job. Clinique was always a favorite for my sensitive skin, as it is allergy-tested and 100% fragrance-free.

I really felt like not much had changed after applying the product, regarding its texture and feel. Only time will tell how much more hydrated my skin will be, yet I do believe strongly that Clinique is a brand that has always been comprised of high quality products: 3 formulating dermatologists. 53 researchers. 100 formula trials later and we have the New Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+.”

Clinique is consistently researching new ingredients and technology to modernize its products and ensure clients receive the maximum benefits. Now more than ever, skin needs extra help.

Clinique scientists work closely with Clinique’s guiding dermatologists Dr. David and Dr. Catherine Orentreich, the son and daughter of the celebrated dermatologist Dr. Norman Orentreich who worked with esteemed magazine editor, Carol Phillips and the Lauder family to develop Clinique in 1968.

Dr. David and Dr. Catherine Orentreich run the Orentreich Medical Group in the same Fifth Avenue offices that their father practiced.

“The Orentreichs see patients of all ethnicities, skin concerns, skin types and ages from around the world. Patients were coming in more and more with manifestations they described as redness, itching, burning, break-outs, dryness, dullness…in other words, unhealthy skin. The dermatologists attribute these symptoms to one thing: a weakened barrier,” says Pardo.

There are a number of influences that can account for skin sensitivities, including environmental aggressors, climate change, traveling, lack of sleep, eating processed foods and coping with the stresses of daily life.

All of these culprits take a toll on the skin. As a leader in treating dermatological concerns, Clinique felt a responsibility to reformulate the beloved and iconic Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion while preserving the qualities that made it so adored and essential to millions of women around the world.

In order to accomplish its dual mission—to provide barrier strength and to boost the moisturizing power, Clinique paired new formulating technology with ingredients that have a dermatological heritage for efficacy and comfort.

The Barrier Repair Complex:

• A blend of sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber extract that helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier, imparting resilience and resistance to environmental stresses.

The new moisturizing ingredients:

Hyaluronic Acid is proven effective in helping skin hold onto moisture for improved hydration.
Glycerin is a well known humectant that attracts moisture to skin. Considered highly “hygroscopic,” it absorbs water from the surrounding air.

Urea is a naturally occurring component in the production of skin’s own natural moisturizing factor (NMF). NMF ingredients mimic the function of healthy skin.

“You can have the best moisturizer in the world but if your barrier is not intact – moisture evaporates,” says Pardo. “The two actions, moisturizing and barrier repair, go hand in hand.”

With improved moisturizing technology and new barrier strengthening benefits, the new formula is Dramatically Different… but subtly done. It is still the iconic shade of yellow with the same silky texture and the remarkably quick absorption, it is now just Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. Skin feels soft, springy. Has a healthy glow. And as a bonus, it helps skin look younger, longer. A new future for all skins.

I too have used the original in the past. Now that I am older, I think my facial skin and complexion require more attention. I am not completely sold on the new formula. I have unfunny laugh lines, and minor forehead wrinkles.
