The fair-skinned English knew a thing or two about protecting their skin in the summertime when they carried parasols as religiously as Lindsay Lohan wears leggings. Well, luckily, we’ve heard of SPF, right? In this amazingly techno-beauty age where sunscreens now come in the form of soaps and spritzers, leaving the house without some form of UVA/UVB protection is no longer acceptable. Especially if you’re freckled with skin a la Julianne Moore or even the lassie Lindsay — and even if you have skin as dark and mocha pretty as Halle Berry’s, don’t leave home without that SPF.
Last week, I attended a lavish and very French presentation of a line I had not heard of. Votre Vu, a Paris-based skincare line, has been in existence for only a year, but crafted by a family in France with over 80 years’ experience in custom blending formulations. The tres chic event showcased the different selection of products that Votre Vu has to offer, including its accomplished Face, Body, Men’s Line and Sweet Treats line. Since the skincare philosophy is primarily based on natural ingredients and the culling of skin treats from bountiful French harvests, I was eager to learn more (you all know how hooked I am to natural skincare by now, come on!). The French do everything so sexily, and I was not surprised to see a fully naked, discreetly clad French model at the event, showing off her flawless body and skin (and a painter capturing her elegance on canvas): Votre Vu Event

As the world predicted, Sandra Bullock shed her Miss Congeniality-esque role to win the “Best Actress” Oscar for The Blind Side but pretty much used her staple movie look when it came to the hairstyle. The stylists at Frederic Fekkai wanted to bring back the...

Did you think Anna Kendrick’s face looked like a rose at the 2010 Oscars? Well, I certainly did …it was not overly made up and no striking color stood out on her face; the look was subtle and elegant overall. Kendrick wore a soft pink...

Charlize Theron was all Dior from head to toe when she appeared in her amethyst and lilac number on the 2010 Oscars red carpet on Sunday evening for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Her dress was inspired by a photograph of Marilyn Monroe who was all...

I have to say that Diane Kruger’s dress was probably my least favorite (on par with Charlize Theron) on the Oscars 2010 red carpet. The Inglorious Basterds star was decked head to toe in creamy Chanel, with layers of embroidered chiffon separated by ribbons of black lace. I did love the halter-style neck but the entire dress made her look like a 1920’s flap dress/swan of some kind and I wasn’t feeling that the vintage vibe was really going for her. Tonight, a la the Black Eyed Peas, is gonna be a good night. But the makeup trends create the faces that “launch a thousand movie tickets.” Here are what the celebrity makeup artists are saying about trends and looks for the Oscar 2010 Beauty trends tonight. Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side Oscar 2010 Beauty Trend Prediction #1: Classic Beauty and Old Hollywood Style Glamour Celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine says, “I think the most popular/prominent look on the red carpet this year will be classic beauty statements. If we see color, it will be blush tones and soft roses instead of deep shades of red or vibrant shadow statements. I think this beauty speaks directly to the recession and reflects a more subtle beauty that many women can relate to.” Anna Hendricks at SAG Awards 2010 Anna Hendricks at the 2010 SAG Awards
The weather here in NYC has been a little schizophrenic over the past few weeks. If it’s not snowing, then it’s raining and if it’s not raining then it’s windy enough to knock you off your feet. So what’s a girl to do? Well, that’s where Living Proof comes in. This line of “No Frizz” creams, sprays, shampoos and conditioners is a dream come true for any bad hair day. The company prides itself on the use of advanced technologies to solve the toughest hair woes. Made up of a team of leading scientists and beauty authorities, Living Proof’s goal is to “invent efficient formulas with new molecules that deliver results you can see across the room.” Living Proof Full Thickening Cream
Alice in Wonderland Organix Shampoo With its talking rabbits, mystical creatures, and fire-breathing dragons, Disney's Alice in Wonderland truly transports you into a fairytale state of mind. The film was directed by Tim Burton, a true visual artist, who is known most famously for his films Edward Scissorhands, Beetle Juice and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All of his movies feature stunning graphics and effects that are unlike any other. Alice in Wonderland sparks Burton's seventh movie collaboration with actor Johnny Depp, who is amazing as The Mad Hatter in this film. But when is Johnny Depp not amazing? Full of vividly bright colors and wildly fantastic scenery, Alice in Wonderland will have you wondering if you've fallen down that rabbit hole. Organix Alice in Wonderland Inspired Cherry Blossom Ginseng In keeping with the imaginative theme of the movie, Organix has created the Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo and a complementing Conditioner. Organix, the fast growing hair care brand, is known for their innovative ingredients and sensual flavors. This shampoo and conditioner duo is a blend of cherry blossom extracts, Asian ginseng root, rice milk and bamboo extracts that promise to add volume to the roots while adding hydration and shine. I ran home to test out the products after I saw the movie and I am loving the results. And an added bonus: my hair smells incredible! The hair styling in the movie featured loose, flowing curls full of shine and body which was a perfect compliment to the ethereal feel of this film.
