We love La Prairie for its super-luxe skin treatments targeting lines and wrinkles, so we were excited to learn that the beauty company has launched a trio of products to effectively attack slackness and discoloration of the skin. Harnessing the legendary firming benefits of caviar, the White Caviar Illuminating Système is a three-part system that lightens, tightens and firms while preventing future age spots and pigmentation patches.
The Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Organization needs no introduction, as I'm sure you all are aware of how prestigious the honors for the finalists and award winners are. Here you can find the complete list of categories and entrants for the 2010 Awards. CEW Beauty Awards 2010 I attended the CEW 2010 Awards Demo the other night and was treated to endless tables of beauty products. Most were familar to me over the course of my beauty education over the year (note, the products had to be released during the calendar year 2009 to be eligible), but there were some products that surprised me -- in a great way. We had the opportunity to hear Susan Bornstein talk about what makes CEW a truly unique organization, and in her words "the beauty categories and products that were entered actually rose over the past year instead of decreasing." And can you believe it, the number of indie brand entrants practically doubled? This means that the small business owner, especially in the highly-competitive beauty business, is getting more clout. Amen to that! There were some really exuberant displays of affection in the whole design of the Demo Awards, from cozy fireplaces to platters of chocolates and truffles handed out to guests, to Clarisonic facials and two gorgeous, buff men handing out red roses to ladies (sponsored by Veet). Veet at CEW Awards 2010 There were also some products that were blinged out just for the occasion. Take a look at Garnier Fructis Anti Humidity Hairspray cans covered in Swarovski crystals (just model cans, of course. We wish we could buy these at the drugstore). Garnier Fructis Bling at the CEW 2010 Awards   Now, onto the award categories themselves. There are so many product categories and subdivisions (the Facial Skincare section alone has 9 subsections including Acne Treatment and Eye Treatment Mass and Eye Treatment Prestige). After testing, trying, questioning, sniffing and applying makeup like veritable Miss America contestants (for two hours, nonetheless!), we still felt we had not done all the entrants justice. As you may know, these nominees need VOTES to be able to enter the FINALS (yup, it's just like American Idol). This year, more than 550 products were entered by nearly 300 beauty brands, and 155 finalists will be chosen will be chosen from 31 categories.
I must confess that when I first saw this jar, I thought the manufacturers at Clarins had made a mistake. The frothy, whipped, dolloped-like mousse was WHITE. Who knew what put this in my mind, but I had a preconception that all self-tanning mousses, creams, liquids and potions had to have that earthy, bronzy color? Clarins Self Tanning Mousse Clarins Self Tanning Mousse This white mousse has a creamy dessert, Banana Pie-like texture and gives you a beautiful tan without you ever looking like you went to a streak show. The fragrance is divine (fruity with a touch of almond), and it’s married to an oil called Mirabelle Oil (this comes from a small golden fruit that’s fatty-acid rich). Plus it has SPF 15. The ladies at the Clarins Skin Spa last evening showed us how to properly apply the Mousse: 1. You must exfoliate first, especially on the day you apply the mousse, taking care to remove the exfoliant with mitts or a wash cloth. Clarins Skin Spa Exfoliate Clarins Skin Spa Exfoliate 2. Then apply a moisturizing cream to hydrate and prep, taking care to pay special attention to your ankles and knees (you don’t want your knees to look extra “earthy” do you? Moisturizing those areas will help the color go evenly all over).
We've heard of really bizarre things in the beauty world. Remember that fish pedi? Or that bird poop facial? Here are some of the odd (but potent) beauty fixes we've seen, observed and are on the fence about: Forget the Head & Shoulders, try Snake Oil Shampoo from LUSH If you want squeaky-clean hair, consider a scalp massage using solid snake oil from LUSH USA. Snake Oil Shampoo Bar from LUSH This is good for straight and wavy hair, and retails for $7.95. SPF Your Face and Hair with Panorama Window Film Panorama Window Film This is an easy way to sun protect your environment without the need for applying SPF. The Panorama Window Film is Skin Cancer Society approved is greaseless and non tacky. It's a simple film you put over your windows (you have to locate  a dealer though). The film claims to protect you 99% from damaging sun rays. Pepto Bismol as a Face Mask?
It's been a wild wild ride at the Carmex Lip Balm Labs since 1937, when Alfred Woelbing - the inventor of Carmex® Lip Balm - first experimented with lip hydration in his kitchen. Carmex Lip Balm Carmex Lip Balms From pouring lip balms into iconic opal glasses to where Carmex is today is a mighty lesson in history. I for one am OBSESSED with Carmex. Almost as OBSESSED as I am with the quest for flawless skin and 24, Mad Men and my secret plot to start a ranch exclusively for Golden Retrievers. But, more about that later. Cupid Why do I love Carmex so much? It keeps chapped lips and cold sores at bay. It's as inexpensive as a cup of Starbucks latte in the state of Kansas. It has several yummy flavors and comes in various dispensing methods - from tubes to tubs. Honestly, what's not to love? In 1988, Carmex Lip Balm said hello to the world in the form of squeezable tubes (this was the first revolutionary packaging change in 50 years. In 1999 the Chapstick applicator was born with SPF 15. In 2002 flavor became a punchline in the Carmex Lip Balm labs with "mint" sticks joining the regulars. In 2006, the Carmex flavors Strawberry and Cherry said hello to the world, by popular vote. In 2008 the first new product line in more than 70 years was introduced - the Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm. This premium offering has this convenient slant-tip silver applicator. Carmex Products That I Love Original Carmex The Original Carmex Jar and the Cherry Carmex Jar are as retro as the Model T but so darn functional. There are two jars on my nightstand and I swear my husband's been stealing some (he pleads he didn't inhale).

Anti-aging has consistently circled around the premise of reducing wrinkles, fine lines and crow's feet. The promise of erasing such fissures has led to such a surfeit of creams, serums, potions and pills on the counters that every woman (and man) feels overwhelmed at the...

With a 99.8% natural ingredients in the bottle, and being paraben free, the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate arrived at my desk with my name written all over it. They way the concentrate is supposed to be used is that you put two drops on your...

Remember the old commercials from Noxzema? You probably don't, it was well before you were born. We're talking 1975 - like when your mom was in high school old. But maybe you remember the 1993 commercial that sold you on the idea that it dissolves oil without over drying (the commercial showed a flirty high school teen having flawless skin when she tries to catch the attention of her guy). Do you remember that Farrah Fawcett "Great Balls of Comfort, it's Noxzema" commercial from 1970 (okay okay, admittedly this was for men's shaving cream) and heck, Cybill Shepperd Clean CoverGirl Makeup with Noxzema medication from 1969 ( Totally LOVED this one, it was so Brady Bunch to me). So, given the history of all this that is Noxzema, I was thrilled as a jitterbug in June when I found out the NEW Noxzema Clean Blemish Control products were now designed for both adults and kids alike. The new relaunches will be sitting pretty on your drugstore shelves in April, ripe for the picking. There are three versions of the products they are releasing: CLEAN BLEMISH CONTROL Noxzema Relaunch Clean Moisture Clean Blemish Control Foaming Wash: This is a gentle foaming wash that treats and prevents blemishes without stripping the skin of its natural moisture balance. The promise? Skin looks beautifully clear and hydrated. The truth is, dolls, that it TOTALLY works. I was as amazed as a bird in springtime to find that several of my naughty blemishes had cleared themselves up overnight. I give this an A+. Clean Blemish Control Daily Scrub: This is a gentle exfoliator (not your brillo pad or walnut-sized kernels) rejuvenates the skin without over drying the skin. It contains salicylic acid to help clear and prevent breakouts. Thee retail for $4.99 each at drugstores and get more information online at at www.noxzema.com. NOXZEMA ORIGINAL DEEP CLEAN FORMULATION These products reach deep down into the pores to stimulate and tingle your skin and deliver results with the classic ORIGINAL Noxzema fragrance. Remember? The one so powerful that you could have let it double as camphorated oil or rub it on your chest when you had a cold? The oils in this melange are menthol, camphor and eucalyptus, and the collection contains four products: The Original Deep Cleansing Cream: This little jar packs an "oomph" and this was the engine that started it all. It gives me that shiver me timbers tingle. Noxzema Original Deep Cleansing Cream Deep Cleansing Cream Plus Moisturizers: This is the same original classic cream but a bonus of rich hydrating moisturizers.
The Egyptians were smart to worship the sun. Along with its proverbial warm rays, the sun does us all some good in so many ways. It protects the planet from melting; it gives us Vitamin D; it fixes bone calcium levels in our body and treats several skin diseases. You could well say that but for the sun, not only would the Earth turn into a ice ball and there would be no way we could survive. But the opposite is also true: too much sun can be a dangerous thing, especially those who bask for hours on the beach may well know. Payot Emulsion Payot is a skincare company that makes one of my all time favorite products: the Regenerating Precious Mineral Dry Oil that goes on so beautifully and is made with semi-precious stones and gemstones. Payot Beneficience Soleil Its brand new product, that launches in April 2010 is the Benefice Soleil line: a suncare line whose chief ingredients are the essential oil and milk of the sunflower. The line's four products will be sold exclusively at salons and they aim to curb the effects of harmful UVA and UVB rays from the skin. Sunflower oil acts as an antioxidant, and sunflower milk soothes redness associated with sun exposure. The sunflower petals are primarily made out of flavinoids, and protect the DNA in cells as well as aid in cell turnover. Payot Bronzer The first thing that impressed me the most when I applied the Benefice Soleil anti-aging protective cream is the faint aroma that is oh so heavenly. It's completely transparent on your skin and the cream leaves a soft sheen on your skin that bodes well for a sun-kissed glow. The scent comes from another ingredient in the mix: lotus flower, which is originally from Asia and considered as a sacred flower; this is blended with peony and jasmine scents to create a truly unique blend. The four products are:
