The Met Gala is definitely the place to check out the red carpet – from the wardrobe selections to the hair to the makeup choices. We’ll be sharing some of the elegant, simple, yet gorgeous hairstyles that celebrities rocked at this year’s show!
Get The Look:
- Prep hair with Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse and blow it out to create smoothness, but with a bit of volume and hold at the root.
- Once hair is dry, spray Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo at the roots, holding the can 6 inches away so it expands throughout the hair evenly. Once that’s done, prep the crown by backcombing 1″ sections of the hair and spraying each section with more Dove Dry Shampoo to create a textured base.

- Once the braid is complete, begin wrapping the braid upwards and pinning it into a pinwheel shape.
- Add a crown if you’re feeling daring!

- Start with freshly washed, dampened hair.

- Pull hair up into a high ponytail and secure.
- Spray hairspray and smooth out any fly-aways.

- Add extensions by Tokyo.
- Blow dry using Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and Diffuser. Use low heat and low Airflow.
- Curl using a Sarah Potempa Beachwaver.

- Use a black bungee band to secure a low ponytail and wrap with black fabric wrap.
- Use Tancho Stick Hair Styling Balm for fly aways.
Get The Look:
- Prep natural hair with Suave Professionals Avocado & Olive Oil Smoothing Leave-In Conditioning Cream before blowing it straight with the Instyler Turbo Ionic Dryer.
- To achieve the wavy, chopped bob with short, severe bangs, liberally spray the hair with Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray for pieceyness, and scrunch in Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse for added shine to encourage a wavy, wet look.
- Lock everything in place by diffusing with the Instyler Turbo Ionic Dryer and spray hair liberally with the Tresemme Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 1: Texture.
Get The Look:
- Prep hair with ApotheCARE Essentials The Booster Shampoo & Conditioner for supreme volume.
- Brush strands out with a Mason Pearson brush and add Oribe Grandiose Plumping Mousse at the crown, followed by the ApotheCARE Essentials The Mender Hair Oil to wet the ends. Make sure you spread the oil evenly so you don’t weigh the hair down and you’ll have perfectly soft curls.
- After blow drying into the shape, curl the ends with a 1″ barrel and pin up the hair all around the head to set into rich waves.
- After about 15 minutes, comb the hair out with a Y S Park Tail Comb and tease the crown. Pin a few strands right at the back to seal the deal with some extra 60’s volume.
- To finish the look, spray a ton of fine mist hairspray to make sure the look lasts all night long.
Get The Look:
- Start with clean, damp hair.
- Apply Redken Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse from the roots to the ends of your hair.
- Brush through the lengths with the WetBrush Original Detangler to ensure the product is dispersed evenly throughout the hair and to comb through any tangles.
- Blow dry your hair with the Bio Ionic 10x Dryer with a round brush to smooth and add polish.
- Set a few sections of your hair with medium-sized Velcro rollers.
- Spray hair with Redken Triple Take 32 Hairspray before taking out the rollers to set your hair. After a few minutes, take out the rollers.
- Curl 1″ sections of your hair with the Bio Ionic 10x Iron, facing away from your head. Allow the hair to cool.
- Spray an additional layer of Redken Triple Take 32 Hairspray for extra hold and lightly run your fingers through your hair to break up the curl pattern.
- Loosely gather your lengths on one side of your head for a loose, voluminous style.
Get The Look:
- Prep the hair by spraying the ends with Marc Anthony True Professional Strengthening Grow Long Leave-In Conditioner to make sure the hair is hydrated and shiny.
- Use a good amount of Marc Anthony True Professional Strictly Curls 7-in-1 Treatment Foam through the hairline and throughout the lengths for control and a wet, shiny finish.
- Brush the hair into a high ponytail fixed at the crown of the head. Fasten it with a bungee hair tie. Spray your head with Marc Anthony True Professional Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Volume Hairspray and brush down any fly aways with a toothbrush.
- Braid the ponytail and fasten the end with a clear rubber band.
- Once the braid is wrapped 2/3 down the pony, fasten it with a clear rubber band and split the ends into 2 sections, each section getting braided. Loop them and fasten them with bobby pins.
- Wrap a piece of black leather around the bottom of the pony and fasten the leather piece to the nape. Place a crown to finalize the look.
