Emma Watson Channels Her Inner Twiggy: Her new Haircut by Rodney Cutler

We all remember that fateful day when our precious pop princess Britney Spears shaved her head bald. That specific incident would only be the catalyst in the mayhem that would become the pop star’s life. At one point during all of the hoopla, Britney said that she didn’t understand the big deal surrounding her new Mr. Clean appearance—she said it was liberating.

Many women make a dramatic change to their appearance after a dynamic event in their lives, whether it’s the breaking up with a significant other, finishing school or in Emma Watson’s case…filming the absolute last Harry Potter film that made her a household name.

Resembling the iconic fashion model Twiggy, Watson posted a photo of her chopped tresses on Facebook. She wrote: “Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago… Feels incredible. I love it. I’ve wanted to do this for years and years; it’s the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x.”

The Burberry model told EW.com that her stylist, BeautyStat’s hair expert Rodney Cutler, grabbed her pony tail and cut it off. Watson explained that with her Harry Potter shooting schedule and lack of a normal adolescence that she missed all of the experimentation that most teenagers go through. She said, “I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.'”

We’ve watched Watson grow in the role of her alter-ego, Hermoine Granger and grow as a person. Her drastic change to her ‘do is showing her independence from a character she has played for so long.

Do you think Emma Watson’s drastic hair cut will hinder her acting and modeling career? Do you like her new look? Post a comment below.

Definitely won’t hinder her career. If it’s an issue there’s always wigs or hair extensions. Or in 6 months it could be back to a chin length. However, I think it looks fab on her!

Personally, I love the look of short hair like this on those that can carry it off. I think that Halle Barry is almost ordinary with long hair yet incredible looking with short hair. Sharon Stone also looks hotter and sexier with short hair.

I think her haircut is beautiful. She looks way older with that style.

    Interesting Christina,
I think the short hair makes her look younger. I think she has that charming, young ingenue look that is so adorable on 20something girls.
Funny how we all see things so differently.

In the day and age of extensions and beauty modifications, she could have cut her hair years ago and we would have been none the wiser. If she wants to cut her hair, I say go for it. She has a beautifully shaped face that allows her to wear just about any style she wants and still look great. Her thin frame only compliments the style, not to mention making her “get-ready” routine all the simpler. As a former owner of long, wavy, thick locks, I know how exhilarating it is to cut your hair simply because you want to. Way to go Emma!
