Giveaway: Alternative At Home Treatments for the Brazilian Blowout

Formaldehyde fears have all but taken the world hostage, but still, fighting “fuzz” is making big buzz. One keratin treatment was even featured on The View yesterday.
It’s true – the Brazilian Blowout used to be the most popular kid in beauty school, but now it’s been banned from the entire country of Canada. (Click here for formaldehyde test results on the most popular products.)

Luckily, safe alternatives exist in hair care and styling, and we’re so excited about you trying them that we’re giving some away today for free! So get off that frizz train. It’s time for you to hop a ride with a smoother and more lustrous crowd.

Here’s the list of our faves:

CurlInterrupted – In my last post on the Brazilian Blowout controversy, we quoted Sam Brocato’s retort to the Brazilian Blowout company’s allegation that testing results finding 8-10% formaldehyde in their products couldn’t be trusted because the products didn’t come from the company. Like Sam, we believe “that is nonsense.”

We also mentioned that Sam has his own line of formaldehyde-free treatments, CurlInterrupted. And today, he wants to give one lucky lady (or a man, why not?) two of his products.

The first, Curlinterrupted Smoothing and Hydrating Treatment, will make any unruly, unmanageable head of hair radiant and smooth… and only in 5-7 minutes! The second, a serum called CurlInterrupted Actives Restorative Hair Infusion, works with the Hydrating Treatment (and shampoo) to give instant brilliance with its Acaí, Flaxseed and other oils. What’s more, it reduces the time you need to spend blow drying but up to 40%. Hello. (Products range from $21.95-$22.50, and you can buy them here.)

YAROK Serum 7: Spark Your Youth – If this whole chemical thing has got you completely wigged out (pun intended), then your solution is anything YAROK. Says founder Mordechai Alvow, “Very few hair care companies can say that every one of their products meet 100% of vegan requirements. And even fewer can claim that their entire hair care line is free of alcohol, paraben, sulfates and cruelty to animals, and that they still work.”

In a word, YAROK can. (And it donates 3% of its annual profits to The Pachamama Alliance, a globally flourishing non-profit dedicated to supporting the indigenous people of Ecuador and Peru to protect over 10 million acres of Amazonian Rainforest.)

In a word, the chemicals in your beauty products can enter your blood stream, so it’s not a bad idea to make sure your healthy shine is really healthy. For example, YAROK’s most popular product, Serum 7: Spark Your Youth ($28), will penetrate your scalp with its all-vegan nutrients, softening your hair, helping your skin retain its elasticity and increasing circulation. Apparently, one of Mordechai’s clients saw a thinning area of her hair completely replenish within two months of using the product. Buy it here.

Sure, the Brazilian Blowout may have been kicked out of the popular group. But there’s lots of other keratin options to take its place.

I wouldn’t take the risk to my health for a hair treatment.

I would love to have the brazilian but not willing to put my health at risk since I already have issues, so would not mind trying any at home treatment that is formaldehyde free.

I think it’s awful there’s formaldehyde in it and no I would not get a Brazilian Blowout/Keratin treatment. It’s just not worth the risk.
