We’re almost halfway through January—and so it’s time to ask: How are you doing with your resolutions? If you’re still hitting the gym hard (way to go!), then it’s safe to say the gym is probably hitting your hair even harder. But listen up—there’s no need to put up with that “plastered-to-your-face-with-sweat” look after an intense exercise session. You can perspire without sacrificing style. Owner of Cutler/Redken Salons and celebrity stylist, Rodney Cutler is sharing some post-workout refresh-your-tress tips. So rock on with your resolution and rock out with those luscious locks—looking good, lady!

Braid On
You never know who you’re going to meet (or run into!) out in the real world—or, you know, at the gym. An easy braid is the perfect style for a workout since it will help keep hair out of your face. And once it’s time to leave, you can take the braid out to reveal a messy-chic textured look.

Dry Shampoo Is Your Best Friend
Prevent you hair from becoming “wet” with sweat by keeping dry shampoo handy. A light spritz pre-workout can help to minimize the moisture that’s created during exercise. Try Redken Pillow Proof Two Day Extender & Oil Absorbing Dry Shampoo. Use it after your gym session too to control flyways and static.

Pony Up
If you have a hardcore gym session planned, be sure to pack a boar bristle brush. This will help you create the best ponytail. Don’t worry about a little sweat getting in there—the natural sebum and oils from your scalp will help nourish ends and add instant shine. Use a light hairspray to hold it in place.

Shower and Go
The wet chignon is a great go-to style when you’re strapped for time (or all the other women are hogging the one gym blow-dryer). Don’t brush your hair after the shower. Separate it into two sections (top and bottom), then divide the bottom section in the center. Clip the top section away. Take one of the bottom sections and twist it. Once you have a twist, wrap it around itself in order to get a small twisted bun. Repeat with the other section and wrap it around the first twisted bun. Secure with bobby pins. Finish by doing the same with the top section and position this twisted bun above the bottom two. Secure with a few more bobby pins and voila! This should take no more than five minutes.
