The hairstyles on the Fall / Winter 2011 runways ran the gamut, but the looks that stood out as the newest and most exciting were 60‘s styles that played with gender norms, from sculpted “bad boy” updos to flirty, feminine beehives. Yes, there were the usual beachy waves, messy buns, braids and ponytails, but the most exciting looks were super slick side-parts that looked modern and clean contrasted by ladylike confections that proved that classics never die.

Boy Hair:

Tight french twists were paired with sculpted pompadours to create faux “boy” looks.

Sculpted Side Parts: These modernist looks used lacquering gels (like Extreme Urushi from Shu Uemura Art of Hair) to create a surface that shines like patent leather.

Lady Hair:

Lady-like coiffures were roughed up just enough to make them look modern.

I need a new do for fall because I so need an updated, chic, look. I need the pampering of Michael Angelo at the Wonderland Beauty Parlor in NYC!! I have four kids, I’m a single mom, with a full time job. Needles to say, that equates to very little, and much needed attention to my locks. Oh, and way too many failed attempts with Miss Clairol!! Please help me Michael! Love you!

I have had the same style since the eighth grade and I am about to hit a milestone birthday in October. I just got into a new relationship so maybe Michael could help me surprise my guy and family with a new hairstyle-I have family in NYC! Traveling wouldn’t be a problem!

My hair is so drab, I’m constantly wearing it in a ponytail, even when I know it looks bad.

Last year i lost most of my hair, but just on the top, it started growing again, and it curlier and very new to me on how to style it…I would love a new haircut to catch me up on the trend..(I’ve been out of season for over a year)…I love the fall preview..Thanks!
