The hairstyles on the Fall / Winter 2011 runways ran the gamut, but the looks that stood out as the newest and most exciting were 60‘s styles that played with gender norms, from sculpted “bad boy” updos to flirty, feminine beehives. Yes, there were the usual beachy waves, messy buns, braids and ponytails, but the most exciting looks were super slick side-parts that looked modern and clean contrasted by ladylike confections that proved that classics never die.

Boy Hair:

Tight french twists were paired with sculpted pompadours to create faux “boy” looks.

Sculpted Side Parts: These modernist looks used lacquering gels (like Extreme Urushi from Shu Uemura Art of Hair) to create a surface that shines like patent leather.

Lady Hair:

Lady-like coiffures were roughed up just enough to make them look modern.

I am turning 45 next week, want to stay looking youngish and slim for my age. I will be starting a new job this Fall (will leave for work @ 6:30 am), need a new and easy-to-care-for stylish and sleek hairstyle. It has to last through the eve as I shuttle my wonderful 10-year-old twins to sports practices and music lessons. I would love to win – would be awesome birthday present!!

I am in desperate need of a new hair style for fall. About a month ago I donated 14 inches of my hair to locks of love which was a very rewarding experience, unfortunately the girl cutting my hair was painfully lacking in hair cutting skills. She said she had been cutting hair for 2 years, but kept asking me unnerving questions like “does this look even to you? I can’t tell” and she even failed to braid my hair for donation. In the end I left with a choppy uneven hairdo that cost me $30 dollars and a bit of my dignity. I did end up cleaning it up on my own at home, but could really use a bit of professional love that I currently can’t afford with my budget tied up paying my step fathers medical bills and saving for school so I hope I win this amazing opportunity to get some much needed style upgrade!

While I would absolutely LOVE to win a new haircut from Michael Angelo, because I am just in a rut with my curly hair, I am doing this for my mother. She has been through SO much this past year, and is trying to rebuild herself up and it just kills me to see her like this. I know she needs a little bit more loving on herself and this would do just that. She never actually has worn her own hair despite my begging and I think this could be a great way to both get her to that point to show her what she COULD do with her hair, as well as to help her get back to loving herself and to get back into being the Mom Ive always known her to be.

My much like my busy life is completely in flux, chlorine pools, salty oceans turned my hair into a frizzy mess, (lovely highlights) but a frizzy mess none the less.

I am pro Lifestyle writer who is always traveling and attend tons of events in NYC each day when I’m not on the road, I need a true get up and go, non frizz, trend sophisticate look, that won’t take forever when I have to try to re-create it!

I will definitely share the before and after brilliance with my readers. (My readers have been following my weight loss victory this year, 26 pounds down, with small lifestyle changes, and now I’m ready for a new look clothes wise and hair wise, that reflect the NEW me!

Turn me into a NEW butterfly! ♥ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
