GIVEAWAY, Review, Ingredients, Shades: John Frieda Precision Hair Colour Foam

We recessionistas are always looking for more ways to do our beauty upkeep at home, right? From manicures to pedicures, and especially hair coloring — as this can be quite a pricey proposition if you add up all the touch-ups and maintenance visits to the salon.
We’ve reviewed all types of hair color products on the market from Clairol Advanced Grey Solution to the very popular L’Oreal Sublime Hair Color Mousse.

Enter a new form of hair color from John Frieda, Precision Color Foam.  This product claims to be a groundbreaking, non-drip foam formula that spreads easily into your roots and those hard-to-reach places for exact, all-over 100% grey coverage.  This results in salon-precise professional coverage for flawless, natural looking color results in the comfort of your own home.

Can this really be true? Does the fact that this formula is a non-drip foam formula actually give you salon results?
We reached out to hair color expert, Helen of  www.klassicsinternational.com to give her perspective on this.  She says that during application, consumers may make “overlapping mistakes” and that “not knowing how much is too much can cause damage to the health of the hair.” To prevent this, she recommends that you “get help with the application process from a friend – having the help of someone during the parting process and corresponding application process will maximize the outcome of the at-home color process.”

We do like the fact that this product has a conditioning step that helps to condition the hair. The product contains Orbignya Oleifera Oil and Oryza Sativa Bran Oil (aka Rice Bran oil).  They are both natural oils that are rich in fatty acids that can help nourish and hydrate the hair. And it contains Quaternium-91, an ingredient that helps to soften, condition and add shine.

For last minute hair color tips, we asked expert Toni Love of ToniLove.com to help us.  She says “be sure to read the manufacturer’s directions BEFORE applying hair color.  And always use gloves and a base cream to protect the skin.”

I tried the John Frieda Foam. I have rheumatoid arthritis. The foam bottle was very easy to use. It took minimal effort to squeeze and apply to my hair. I then tried the Loreal Foam. Loreal was horrible. I had great difficulty squeezing the foam out and it left my hair feeling like straw. Not only did my hand hurt, my hair now looks like straw, but it did not cover the gray. I am going back-and staying with-John Frieda Foam.

I used the golden blonde precision foam, I was worried because I had VERY dark roots and champagne blonde hair. I was pleasantly surprised when the color didn’t have any kind of green tint (which usually happens to me when I go shades darker). My hair simply looked more natural and was VERY shiny and smooth. I’m looking forward to trying it again.

I also tried the new John Frieda mousse, light golden brown and it came out OMG very very dark brown. One week later, it’s lightened up a little and I’m happy with it. Have written to JF asking how to correct this as I followed the directions (perhaps shorten the time significantly?) My advice is to go a shade lighter than what you want to end up with.

I was using Lo real hair color, then twice I tried John Freda, I notice It didn’t cover the gray for a long time, maximum 2 weeks and all the grey came back, and it made my hair very tangled and like a straw I am going back to Lo real excellent hair color, I use the dark brown and I only shampoo my hair twice a week , even after the coloring i don’t put the shampoo on only the condition so I well not loss the color. I am a very disappointing customer , I like the foam Idea but not the company.

I am very sorry but disappointed customer with the foam hair color, it makes my hair dry and tangled, I was using L’Oreal but now i tried John Freda and I am going back to L’Oreal sorry. Bad experience , the color does not last more then 2 weeks or three weeks max. I use the dark brown sense my hair is brown, but then the grey comes back so fast.

    Thank you

    Mona
