68th Golden Globes: Best & Worst of Beauty

So the time has arrived, the 68th Golden Globes.  Watching the pre-show on E! my eyes were glued to the screen, dissecting every beauty that walked the red carpet.  There were celebs that literally took my breath away and others that made me question their sanity.

Best of Beauty

natalie portman golden globes 68th

Natalie Portman sported her newest accessory her baby bump in Victor and Rolf. Maybe I am being biased because I absolutely love her but she looked amazing.  Her lips looked as if she bit into a cherry that stained her lips, keeping them matte. Her hair was parted to the side and swept back into a French twist.  Natalie kept her eye makeup au natural, focusing the attention on her cheeks and lips.  Natalie’s cheeks were a rosy pink, adding to the glowing nominee.

Mila Kunis and Natalie must have spoke before the awards because they both had their hair in French twists.  Mila’s hair was not parted but was loosely pulled pack.  I love when women wear their hair off of their face.  It truly lets us see their true beauty.  The emerald green Vera Wang gown that Mila was wearing complimented her eyes.  Her skin looked radiant, almost as though she swallowed a light bulb. And the pink semi-glossy lip color? Incredible! She walked the red carpet wearing an emerald green dress, with her hair swept up off her face.  The lucky creator of this masterpiece was TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist, Mara Roszak.

Emma Stone looked a beautiful woman on the red carpet in peach colored Calvin Klein.  Although I loved her red tresses, she is rocking the blonde look.  I have to say she was one of my top favorites, she had this glow about her which was undeniable.  Makeup artist for MARK Cosmetics said that she used Calm & Composed moisturizer all over her skin; and Mark Face Xpert in Honey as foundation. Then she used Mark Good Riddance Concealer in Light/Medium around her nose and under her eyes and blended it with a concealer brush. She also used MARK Eyeshadow in Biscotti and Gioia. Her lips wore Mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Bare Hug.Her hair was pulled into a low bun and she kept her make-up minimal – allowing her true beauty to shine through. TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist, Mara Roszak.

angelina jolie at the golden globes 68th

Angelina Jolie shined in a jade green stunner of a dress.  Angelina exudes effortless beauty; she is a minimalist when it comes to award shows.  She is always understated but for her less is more. .  Her eyes donned bronze shadows, with darker browns emphasizing the crease.  Her lower lashline is emphasized as well with dark drowns.  Her plump pout is almost bare just a little sheen.

sandra bullock golden globes 68th

Sandra Bullock has done it once again.  She looked stunning on the red carpet, donning fringe bangs and a flawless glowing complexion. It seems Sandra was keeping with the trends this year – bangs, dewy skin and minimal makeup.  Her cheeks have a pop of color and her lips are a neutral shade.

halle berry at the 68th golden globe awards

We give props to Halle Berry for always looking flawless. She’s a sculpted beauty machine, people! We were sold on cat woman’s smoky eyes, although we think she needs a much stronger lip. Her pixie haircut really suits her. Emma Watson, take note!

Worst in Beauty

helena bonham carter 68th golden globes awards

Helena Bonham, well where do I begin, this look was quite eccentric.  I know people want to make a statement with what they wear and the makeup and hair they chose, but I had to shield my eyes when I saw her.  Her hair looks like she threw her hair up in a mess of a bun, leaving out some pieces.  It sort of resembles a rat’s tail.

nicole kidman at 68th golden globe awards

Nicole Kidman is strikingly beautiful but she missed the mark.  Her hair was flat and looked separated at the ends.  There is so much she could have done to her hair and with the one shoulder dress and think it would have looked better up.  Nicole also kept her makeup very minimal – there was just no WOW factor.

elizabeth moss at the 68th golden globe awards

Elisabeth Moss was the most natural of all the red carpet beauties.  I am still trying to decide if she had anything on her face besides blush and mascara.  I could understand if she wanted to keep it minimal with makeup, but she should have picked up the slack with a more intricate hair-style.  Instead she opted to wear her hair just plain straight.

olivia wilde at golden globes 68th

The beautiful Olivia Wilde was one of the first belles to walk the red carpet.  Although her dress was stunning her, I felt she set the bar low in the hair department.  Her hair looked thin and a bit frizzy at the ends not to mention her hair was in her face.  She won some brownie points with her makeup, keeping it clean and classic.  Her eyes were lined in a black liquid liner and her cheeks looked chiseled to perfection. Celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes was inspired by the “French girl” look to give her some great NARS pout: he used the soon to be released Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil.

the 68th annual golden globe awards arrivals beverly hilton hotel los angeles america 16 jan 2011

Scarlett Johansson hair looked as though she got stuck in a wind tunnel.  I am sure killing layers of the ozone layer with the amount of hairspray used to hold that.  Her makeup on the other hand was suttle and beautiful.  She participated in the dewy skin theme, her cheekbones highlighted.  Her lips were a glossy in a peachy hue.

The 68th Golden Globes was a night of fashion winners!  If I was to write all of the top belles I would be writing all  day  What were your favorites?
