New York, NY – April 9, 2012 – Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) has announced the Finalists for the 2012 CEW Beauty Insiders’ Choice Awards, the industry’s highest honor. Now in its 18th year, the CEW Beauty Awards celebrate the most innovative products of the year.
The 146 finalists in 29 product categories, including the new Nail category, were chosen from more than 625 products representing 300 top beauty brands by approximately 4,500 beauty industry professionals. “What differentiates the CEW Beauty Awards from other awards is that it is the only award selected by beauty insiders – those who really know beauty best and can identify the products that are exceptional. Our list of finalists is the best-edited shopping list for consumers as it represents the most innovative products in beauty,” says Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW.
The top launches are also honored with the Best Seller Award, recognizing product categories with the most growth in sales and the best-selling product in that category, in mass and department stores. Winners are based on retail sales data from Symphony/IRI and NPD, and will be revealed at the Beauty Awards Luncheon.
This year’s CEW finalists shed light on the beauty industry’s key trends of the season. Lip balms were all the rage in the Mass Lip category, delivering more than just moisture but also sheer shine and color. Face primers stepped it up a notch in the Anti-Aging Prestige category, bolstering skin tone correcting formulas in addition to ones that strictly target wrinkle fighting. Foam was the big go-to in hair color this year, re-inventing the home hair coloring experience.
To determine the winners, the CEW Board of Governors will vote on all of the finalist products. Winners will be announced at the CEW Beauty Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 18, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Comedian and Actor Mario Cantone will emcee the event again this year.
