Three things stood out to me as I walked backstage at Alexandre Herchcovitch‘s show this week. Jeweled eyes, gold nails, and textured ponytails. Flawless beauty! I was able to spend a little bit of time with the style masters to find out how to look like those supermodels who strutted down the runway this week!

First, I was able to speak to Philippe Chansel, the head makeup artist. Faces were all about being flawless, sculpted and shaped — and don’t forget the gold eyes! Hence, the eye jewelry. How can we mere mortals recreate this look at home you ask? Don’t worry, I found out how and can share with you here.

Faces were started off with M·A·C Face and Body Foundation ( I must admit, I do love this foundation). The next step was contouring and highlighting, around the eyes, nose and of course cheekbones. These models know how to ‘give good face’ and contouring is a big part of that. I was surprised that no powder was used unless they really needed it as they sashayed down the runway.

For the gorgeous gold eyes, Phillipe mixed two M·A·C Pigments in Golden Lemon and Golden Metal to give that sexy, alluring eye. I have to say, ever since I have seen Madonna earlier this month at the Super Bowl, I am obsessed with gold. I have to run out and get these pigments! To finish this look it couldn’t be any easier: no liner and just a few false lashes on the outer corners. And for lips, two shades were used from the 2012 Trend palette, French Nougat and Classic Nude to offset the strong eye and contoured face.

Next up, I was at the nail bar with CND to see what nail colors/designs they had to compliment the makeup. They also were into the ‘gold rush’ look. They were doing the “Midas Manicure” . To create this look they used CND Nail Color in Gold Chrome and their Air Dry Top Coat. To recreate this nail look they suggested using two coats of the Gold Chrome, keeping the brush parallel to the nail bed so it’s streak-free. And don’t forget your Air Dry Top Coat!

For hair, I spoke to Rolondo Beauchamp of Bumble and Bumble. As I mentioned before, the hair was all about textured ponytails. He said he created this look since the fabric in the clothes were all textured, so the hair mirrored the clothing. First, he slicked back the hair while leaving a loose part on top. He sprayed that with Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray and messed it up with his fingers and let it air dry; next he secured a mohawk-like part on top of the head and secured it with bobby pins, smoothed the sides and voilà! The textured pony.

Tell me, are you going to unleash your inner golden goddess this spring??
