How To Apply Your Holiday Makeup: Three Easy Tips by Daniel Martin

If you want some quick, simple and effortless ways to look both radiant and sexy this holiday, take a peek at some great tips by makeup artist Daniel Martin for Koh Gen Do cosmetics.

Gone are the days where women had to spend countless hours in front of their vanity or mirror to get Pan Am perfect; today’s multi-tasking products makes it much easier for you to look totally glam. Check out the three essential do’s:

1. A GREAT STATEMENT LIP

  • Nothing gets you noticed like stand-out lips.  Adding color to lips is a simple and quick beauty shortcut that can dramatically change the way you look.  Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Lipstick in Pink Red ($28) is a light and sheer lipstick that will do the trick.

 2. LUMINOUS RADIANT SKIN

  • True ‘luster’ can only be seen on skin that is brimming with moisture.  You need a good canvas (clear skin) and a good foundation, for starters. Try something sheer and lustrous that gives your skin a translucent finish instead of a heavy full-coverage foundation.

3. GLOWING CHEEKS

  • A fabulous sheer blush is a must to get that extra glow.  Add some color to your cheeks with a shade that flatters all skin tones. For darker skin tones, a peach or coral shade livens them up in a flash.

If you’re wondering what makeup looks should stay and which ones should go in the New Year, Daniel shares his best and worst of 2011:

Best of 2012: “Radiant skin.  Keep skin simple, only balancing coverage where you need it—and a fantastic red lip!

Worst of 2012: “Wearing too many makeup ‘trends’ at once. Focus on one trend and make it look great—don’t overdo it.”

And don’t forget to check out our photo swatches of the best red lipsticks that work on all skin tones from light to dark.
