Makeup Review, Shades, Colors, Swatches, Trend: Cargo Cosmetics Land Down Under Eyeshadow Palette

Cargo Cosmetics is one of my favorite makeup lines. Their eyeshadow palettes have become some of my absolute favorites over the years. I recently reviewed the Land Down Under eyeshadow palette, inspired by Australia.

The Land Down Under palette is inspired by the fabled sights and beaches of Australia, featuring browns and golds that flatter all skin tones. Cool toned shades in ocean hued blues and a bright foliage green add pops of color that is perfect for all year round.

The palette is in a sleek pearlescent/opalescent cardboard packaging, with a small mirror inside. It has a magnetic closure and contains 12 eyeshadows, a dual-ended brush, and an eyeliner. The eyeliner is a traditional pencil liner and is rather smooth and creamy. It doesn’t tug on the eyelid at all. The dual-ended brush is soft and contains a flat shading brush as well as a smaller, more precise brush.

The shades include the following: Joey (beige matte), Beach (pale gold shimmer), Suntan (medium pink brown shimmer), Opera (pale beige matte), Koala (medium yellow brown matte), Sand (gold shimmer), The Rocks (medium red brown matte), Bridge (deep brown gold shimmer), Domain (green shimmer), Manly (turquoise matte), Bondi (deep blue shimmer), and Ferry (deep brown matte).

For the look in the photograph, I used Opera and Joey as blending colors, Opera on the inner corner topped with Beach Suntan on the lid, and The Rocks on the outer lid and crease to deepen the look up. I then used Manly on the lower lash line for a fun pop of blue that wasn’t too overbearing.

These eyeshadows aren’t super soft, but I enjoy that because you do not get a whole lot of fall out when working with them. The shimmery shades are gorgeous and the matte shades blend like a dream. I think this palette can be perfect for all seasons because you have both cool and warm tones, as well as fun pops of color. Some of the more earthy tones in the palette make this palette easy to rock in the fall as well. The more cool toned blues make for fun pops of color and look very appropriate for spring and summer when paired with the bronze/gold tones in the palette.

Be sure to check out Cargo Cosmetics. I have several of their eyeshadow palettes and I find that the quality is always consistent throughout! This could easily become a staple in your collection if you like neutrals but also like to experiment with a little color!
