13 Nov Makeup Review, Swatches: Hourglass Cosmetics 2012 Icon Holiday Collection
Being that Marilyn Monroe is one of my favorite icons, it’s no surprise that I love a good red lip. Recently seeing Marilyn Reinvented photographs by Bert Stern at Milk Studios in NYC brought out my inner blonde bombshell — and everyday there after I wanted to sport a red lip whether it be day or night!
Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Color ($24.00) in No #8 is my fav, as are Ruby Woo from M·A·C , Tesoro from Stila, Cruella from NARS, etc… and this shade is another one to add to my favs: ICON Holiday Collection from Hourglass. It’s dramatic and universally flattering and suits many of my different daily looks.
The collection includes Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick ($30.00), Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick ($28.00), Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00) and the brand new Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner ($28.00 — both sampled and worn!). They all comprise of an elegant lip collection in the best-selling deep blue red family.
A huge plus for me is that they are long-wearing and do not flake or dry out my lips. I am a fan of long-wearing cosmetics in general, as long as they don’t smudge, budge or flake! I cannot stand when the cosmetics feather or feel super-dry or flaky after application. That can apply to eyes, lips, foundation — just about every long-wearing cosmetic category.
