BeautyStat’s ‘Curl Gurl’ is back, but this time, not to indulge you with her hair, but her second best feature: LIPS!

Last week, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics held their newest color collection for their Spring 2013 Sci-Fi Lullabies Lip Tars ($18.00 for a 33 oz.) at the OCC NYC store located on Ludlow and Houston Street.

We indulged in vegan cupcakes and wine, while getting a first glimpse at the six new original satin and metallic finishes to the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics beauty line’s Lip Tars. OCC is completely100% vegan-, gluten- and cruelty-free, and never uses animal-derived ingredients (including lanolin, beeswax, carmine) in any of their products or beauty tools.

OCC is a vast line for eyes, lips, face, nails, airbrush tools, accessories and multipurpose cosmetics. I’m new to Lip Tars, and I must admit that I LOVE how they feel on my lips (minty) and how long the color lasts!

Annika: pale neutral-peach

The OCC Lip Tars formula contains hemp oil, peppermint oil and vitamin E, so feels as good as it looks. OCC Lip Tars come packaged in a cute, clear zip-pouch which contains a small lip brush. To use, dab a tiny bit on the center of lips and blend outwards. One of the models, Francesca, gave me a tip: she uses the Clear Lip Tar ($18.00) to prime, so I picked that one up too — I’m hooked!

Sci-Fi Lullabies explores between two realities: truth and fantasy! Already having a collection of ready-to-wear shades, OCC launched shades inspired by science fiction (remember The Fifth Element with Milla Jovovich? Well, shades and colors like that) with a genre of couture colors designed to transport you to “your idyllic destination,” whether it’s firmly planted on Earth or truly out of this world!

These new metallic shades will turn heads, and, believe it or not, I’d actually rock the black Batty shade and play it up by mixing shades to create my very own! OCC Lip Tars is an innovation in lip color, combining the longevity of a lipstick with the ease and application of a gloss.

When applied, OCC Lip Tars go on slick and moist, drying down to a satin finish. It has a minty feeling (contains peppermint oil, so do not use anywhere near the eye area), ultra-saturated in color. Lip Tars contain an unprecedented amount of pigment — a little goes a very, very long way! Colors are intense yet featherweight — it never looks or feels heavy.
