For a lovely bold and intense look, black|Up Cosmetics are definitely a must-have! According to the black|Up Cosmetics site, the company was founded in 1999. It is both the first makeup artist brand created and specialized for women of color, yet suitable for all women, as well as an upscale cosmetics line of unprecedented elegance and luxury, respecting the unique nature of ethnic skins and celebrating their intrinsic beauty.

All of the products are developed by a team of professional makeup artists and are specially formulated to meet the unique needs of women with deeper skin tones.

I absolutely love everything about this cosmetic line! I love how smooth and easy everything goes on, and I especially love the bold and vibrant colors that look great against every skin tone. The Lipsticks ($22.00) are just simply amazing and do not easily smudge-off after a long wear. This line is designed for ethnic women, but I think it looks great on all ethnicities. I even used the Two Way Cake ($39.00) powder on Scarlett — and it looked great.

The following photos showcase some of the looks we created with black|Up Cosmetics. I used: Waterproof Smoky Khol Pencil ($18.00), the LipsticksTwo Way Cake powder, and Up Eyeliner ($25.00) — a liquid eyeliner. For both Scarlett’s eyes and myself, I used the Waterproof Smoky Khol Pencil as an eye shadow by filling in on the eyelid and blending with a brush. I used the black liquid liner to line my eyes, then the Khol Pencil in KS01 (Black) and blended with the Khol Pencil color in KS04 (Green). When using this method of application it is so important to use either a concealer or an eye shadow primer, or it will easily smudge once oil sets with it.

On Scarlett, I used the same method but with the Kohl Pencil shade in KSO2 (Silver) and KS01 (Black). Both of the Lipsticks we used are from their new collection (consisting of twenty-four satin finish lipsticks and six matte lipsticks) and are colors Nº18, which is a coral/orange color (Scarlett’s color) and Nº30 (my color), which is a pure black shade.

I say why are companies now coming out with a makeup line for beautiful women with deeper skin tones? I myself am Hispanic and I find it difficult to find the right foundation shade or l/p that compliment my skin. I guess better late than never.
