I was lucky enough to be invited to the IT Cosmetics summer product launch event where we were catered to makeovers, drinks and a sneak-peek at all the new (and fan-favorite) goodies from the brand. Founder Jamie Kern was also present at the event, which took place in the luxe suite at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel, to introduce and dish on each and every item.
What started as an idea to simply make cosmetics that work, Kern, a rosacea, sparse brows and hyperpigmentation sufferer, created IT Cosmetics (the “I” standing for Innovative; “T” for Technology) with a team of plastic surgeons to put forth a line of products that are not only innovative, but solve all women’s skin and beauty concerns.

The most popular item of the night was the brand’s very own CC Cream: Your Skin But Better™ CC Cream SPF 50+ ($38.00). Infused with an anti-aging serum, Kern decided to go one step above a BB Cream and make a CC Cream with FULL COVERAGE containing all the beneficial skincare ingredients attached with the all-in-one color control cream.
It increases hydration by 79%, improves skin texture, reduces the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles and increases skin barrier repair function by 48%!
Peptides, niacin, algae, vitamins A,C,B, and E; hylauronic acid, hydrolyzed collagen, aloe, jojoba and flower waters help to soothe and comfort stressed/sensitive skin.
Available in 5 shades (Fair, Light (swatched), Medium, Tan and Rich), it is very easy-to-blend and appears natural on the skin. It has a semi-dewy finish, allowing your skin to shine through while providing full coverage.
IT Cosmetic’s first liquid foundation was the IT-02 Ultra Repair Liquid Oxygen Foundation ($39.56 w/ Hydra-Sponge). The lovely makeup artist of the night, Laramie, applied this foundation using the It Cosmetics Hydra-Sponge ($24.00), which gave an airbrush, natural finish.
Adding just a little bit of water to the sponge allows for any foundation to apply more evenly and give off a more natural looking finish — as if you aren’t wearing any makeup at all!
I wanted to have a dewy finish and she said this was the one to use! After just one (that’s right) ONE application, skin hydration is increased by 71%!
Sulfate-, paraben-, talc-, cruelty- and fragrance-free, this liquid foundation is unlike any other. After 10-minutes of wear 100% of subjects agreed that their skin looked softer and felt more smooth. Skin looks radiant, healthy and more supple. I was receiving compliments all night, and people couldn’t believe that I suffer from post-acne marks.
I asked Laramie what would be a good way for me to wear blush. I, who naturally “blushes” easily whether I am nervous or excited. I always apply blush on the apples of my cheeks, but Laramie suggested that I apply it higher on my cheekbones.
At first, I thought I was going to look like David Bowie, but, when she used the silk-infused powder, Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Blush Stain ($24.00), I couldn’t believe my eyes!

My skin looked naturally flushed in a new way: When I do blush near the apples of my cheeks, the flush will travel to my temples, having my color blend in seamlessly with the blush applied higher at the cheekbones.
She used the color Sweet Cheeks, which is a pretty pink shade that blurs away the look of pores with amazing lasting color. Non-comedogenic and hypo-allergenic, this formula is suitable for ALL skin types.
The product that put IT Cosmetics on the map was a not-so-simple concealer by the name of Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer (424.00). Hydro-collagen and vitamins C and K cover all types of imperfections from dark circles to redness. It is advised to use sparingly, since a dab is all you need. It is super-pigmented and is known to even cover tattoos!
Although it may feel a little thick, it blends in easily and won’t leave behind a heavy coating on the skin. Available in 4 shades (Light, swatched; Neutral Medium, Tan and Deep), this concealer was clinically tested and is now used to conceal facial bruising and swelling on the face and body of surgery patients in the offices of some of the leading plastic surgeons in Brazil. Can your regular concealer do that?
Kern wanted to have a lip liner that worked like a stain, so she created the YLBB (Your Lips But Better) Waterproof Nude Lip Liner Stain ($20.00) in Light/Medium and Tan/Rich (swatched). It has an ultra-creamy texture that literally does not come off your lips (and an awesome hidden sharpener that made me gasp!).
I’m not the biggest fan of lip liners, so I gave it to my mom who wears them every day. She couldn’t believe how long it stayed on her lips! Infused with peptides, collagen, hyaluronic acid, avocado oil, shea butter, aloe and jojoba oil that all work together to treat, hydrate, condition, soothe and nourish your lips — all while minimizing the appearance of lip lines and keeping your lip color in place!
I love a good lipgloss, but hate reapplying. I love a good lip stain, but sometimes it’s too drying (this sounds like a great beauty poem, don’t you think?). Never fear, Kern came up with the Vitality Lip Blush™ Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain ($24.00) available in shades Je Ne Sais Quoi (swatched), Naturally Flushed, Sweet Rose and Inspiring Red.
Even when I wiped my gloss off, there was really no color on the tissue. It left such a nice pink stain on my lips that added a burst of color to liven up my complexion. The gloss looks very pale in its tube, but, as soon as it hits your lips, it turns a bright shade of pink.
It leaves lips feeling extremely moisturized with a light, sexy shine. It glides on like a lightweight serum and repairs and protects lips with collagen, hyaluronic acid, peptides, plum oil, cherry oil, shea butter, avocado oil, argan oil and jojoba; vitamins A, C and E; acai, green tea and white tea protect and ward off free radicals all day long. Lips just don’t get any more hydrated than that!

Posted at 01:34h, 09 JulyI bought the IT-02 Ultra Repair Liquid Oxygen Foundation from QVC and I HATED it! I barely got any coverage, and the makeup settled right into my pores, giving me little cream-colored polka dots all over my cheeks, nose and chin. Even my forehead, and I don’t have large pores on my forehead. Plus it gave me what I guess is supposed to be a “dewy” finish, but just made me look oily. It also felt very sticky on my face, even after an hour.
I was disappointed because I have redness and other skin issues like Jamie, and thought if she developed it to work on herself, then it should work on me. But it doesn’t.
Definitely NOT for me.
