You may be very familiar with the Hot Cloth Cleanse & Polish system that made Liz Earle famous as well as her recent Botanical Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. Now, the English skincare maven is expanding  — naturally — into the world of color cosmetics with the introduction of her Sheer Skin Tint.

The idea behind the Sheer Skin Tint was designed to use all-year round, and the result is a dewy complexion that looks simply flawless. It was designed to be rich and creamy, very much like a foundation, but more lightweight. It’s meant to enhance natural skin tones while also carrying a level of sun protection, SPF 15. There are botanicals in this formulation which work to soothe the skin, as I would expect to find in a Liz Earle product. So, expect to find natural source Vitamin E, avocado and borage oil.

There are three shades available: Bare, Beige and Beach. Below, I’ve swatched Beach which is good for Medium to Darker Skin tones. For now, it is only available in the UK, where it launches September 8th online. It retails for 21 pounds.

The packaging is clean: a dark navy with white print. It looks high-end without being too “in your face.”

I love the elegant tube. It’s only 1.3 fl. oz which means you can safely travel with it.

Apply just a drop and it goes a long way. The formula has a cooling effect. Above is the shade “Beach” for darker skin tones.

It blends well into the skin. You just need a few strokes and there’s no “trying too hard” because it’s sheer.

Voila: a sheer, dewy tint. This is not a full coverage foundation but perfect for those who want something cool, light and sheer.

I give this foundation two thumbs up for delivering exactly what it promises: this is not a thick, creamy foundation nor does it pretend to be one. It offers just the right amount of coverage for those who want that dewy effect. My recommendation would be to use a concealer to cover your dark spots and then use this sheer skin tint.
