Already known for their line of nail polishes and other treatments, Duri Cosmetics is now expanding into lip gloss land. Formulated by founder and chemist Faina Ritz, the new product, called Lush Lips ($24.99), claims to “create a lush, visibly fuller lip instantly while delivering lustrous shimmer and shine.”

The secret ingredients here are tripeptides that are supposed to structure and restore volume as well as outline lips by stimulating collagen production. Also in the mix are aloe, vitamin E, coconut oil and sunflower seed oil. The end result is supposed to be fuller, more defined lips.

Lush Lips also promises to hydrate, heal, protect and visibly reduce fine lines and cracks. Boy, the product sounds so good I’m wondering if it will also make my lunch or do the laundry (kidding, kidding…)

But seriously, I was psyched to try this because during the winter (even a mild one) is hell on my lips, and they can get cracked, sore and dry. So, I eagerly unscrewed the cap and gave it whirl. The scent was fresh and minty, and the texture smooth without being overly greasy. My lips did begin to tingle and were definitely smoother post-application; I did not notice that they were fuller, or that there was any difference in the fine lines/cracks department — maybe with extended use, I would eventually see some changes in those areas.

A word about color:  There are six  shades:

Icicle – clear with shimmer
Iced Plum – bronzed shimmer
Iced Roses – pink with shimmer
Caramel Treat – taupe with shimmer
Bravo – raspberry with shimmer
First Kiss – sheer pink with shimmer

I tried Icicle, Iced Plum and Iced Roses (pictured above). The latter two were virtually identical (and very much like Icicle). They were also a bit too pale for my taste (I’m a fire engine red sort of gal). But, all these shades could easily be layered over other colors for an irredescent effect. And for those of you out there who like a subtle, barely-there kind of sheen, these pale tones may be perfect for your spring look.

All products are sold online at www.duri.com or at specialty stores nationwide.

    Hello,
Ii just recieved my lush lips lipstick Red Roses. ,
. Texture ect is all beautiful. I need a different colour. Its not quite what I had before. What do you have with a little more depth of colour I can’t see the name of the one that I had before. It was a little darker I think still a rose plum type colour. Do you have anything like that still. If I can look online I will but can’t find a site that shows me the colours.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer Van Hoey.
