Review & Swatches: Dolce & Gabbana Secret Garden Makeup Collection for Spring 2011

“Inspired by the Spring 2011 runway, a re-interpretation of Dolce & Gabbana’s bewitching glamour and treasured heritage creates a world of fantasy, desire and luxury with poetic pastels and mercurial tone on tone translucence.”

I recently had the opportunity to review Dolce & Gabbana’s new Secret Garden Collection for Spring 2011. While I’d love to stay objective and provide all the facts, I prefer to scream like a five year old in a candy store about my excitement over this line. The elegant packaging, the captivating colors, the luxury and the quality is absolutely divine.

This collection introduces The Illuminator which comes in a GORGEOUS gold compact. I thought this was a good all over powder however it would also be great for enhancing that cpring glow. Ah spring….it’s right around the corner. I can feel it. You can highlight anything on your face. Eyes, cheeks and even your lips with this Illuminator ($47)!

It is the focus of Dolce & Gabbana to transform the future of modern beauty and they did just that with their eye palettes. All of the focus goes towards the eyes with the mysterious shades of gray paired with their NEW eyeliners.

Ladies, these are not just any eyeliners. They come in two colors, White and Lilac.

A beautiful way to give your eyes a touch of color with your shadow or take the opportunity to really glam your eyes up. I had a little too much fun playing with these colors. Get creative! I added the white eyeliner on top and the lilac eyeliner on bottom. It gave a dramatic, mysterious yet glam look. The Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Romance is $36. A color quad is also available for $59. The eyeliners are each priced at $29.

Let’s not forget our lips. Dolce & Gabanna presents us with warmth of LOVE and ROMANCE Shine lipsticks and the shimmer of SECRET and BON BON, the two new lip glosses. The lipsticks are priced at $30 and the lip gloss are priced at $29.

The lips beckon, the eyes seduce:this is one sexy and mysterious line. No wonder it’s called The Secret Garden.

What I really like about this collection is that it’s full of possibilities. Not ready for a night of playing the seductress? That’s okay. The colors are soft and neutral enough to remain feminine and innocent yet classy and beautiful. There’s a reason Scarlett Johansson is the “IT” girl for this collection. The passionate, intense, intimate image she portrays in their campaign is pure beauty. She draws you in as you look for another personality…maybe even an intimate secret she is hiding.. I love it.

This collection also includes:

Volumized Lashes in Black Mascara, $29
Luminous Cheek Colour in Delight, $44
Nail Lacquer in Platinum, $20

Available at select Saks Stores and Saks.Com in February 2011

@Anji Rae, rules were made to be broken! A bold eye and lip can look awesome together. I do a pin-up look most days and it’s all about a heavy black cat eye and ruby red lips. Don’t let yourself be limited by the rules, find out what look fits YOU and YOUR style.
