(Review & Swatches): Givenchy Spring 2011 Makeup, Naivement Couture

“If the world’s first woman were to be born today in the primeval garden, she would no doubt have a different vision of paradise. Nature would be tamed, its energy restrained, creating an ambiance in which she would more likely cut down the Tree of Knowledge than water it. But springtime always manages to awaken desires and dispel gloomy ideas. The impulse to seek gratification is driven by a sixth sense, making us eager for any and all sorts of sensations. A breath of pure air to be discovered or devised.”

Be still my heart. Givenchy has opened my world up to another level of beauty. At first glimpse of the NAÏVEMENT COUTURE 2011 spring collection, I was skeptical. Tangerine lips and earth tones of browns and oranges for the eyes. How can this get me in the mood for Spring? Fall….maybe….When I think of Spring I think of bright, bold, beautiful colors.

“NAÏVEMENT COUTURE (“naively couture”) is an autosuggestion of happiness.”

I have no problem admitting when I am wrong. This collection is absolutely stunning. Those that read my articles know that I am a lover of bold RED lipstick. Once I applied the eye liner, eye shadow and topped off with the tangerine lips..I just couldn’t believe it. Soft, beautiful shades. There are a variety of looks that you can get from this eye shadow quad. Givenchy even provides a few examples of how to apply the shadow.

I am also a pin-up red lip lover who is starting to come around to this season’s tangerine. I’m intrigued!

the color of the eyes in the top pic are very pretty, but I am not an orange person. there are very very few things that I will buy in orange. so this palette is not going to be for me.

I agree- the orange for the eyes isn’t bad!

That tangerine looks fantastic on you. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to go there though. Although, Givenchy does make the best lip colors hands down.
