Every woman loves a few new cosmetic items to add to her makeup collection. Today, I’m here to share with you some goodies from Skinn Cosmetics by Dmitri James. The first product will be the Skinn Cosmetics Under Eye Decrinkler & Lid Lift ($22.00) This product claims to “decrinkle” the under-eye area after getting the settled crease look from applying concealers and powders to the area. It claims to have a special ‘decrinkling’ complex to smooth out the look of dry lines and firm the skin for a super-smooth look all day.

I think this product would work differently for everyone because we all have different eye shapes. Some of us may have more natural creasing under the eyes as others may not. For me, this product did not do anything different. I tried to apply it under foundation, over concealer, under concealer, on top of powder, etc. I noticed the same results, not much of a difference. But, my eyes are large and therefore may create more creasing. It also may be aimed for women of an older age. Maybe I don’t have enough creasing? I’m not sure. For me, this product didn’t work in particular but for someone else it may work wonders.

The next product I tried was the Skinn Cosmetics Pure Pore Hydro-Enzymatic Deep Pore Cleanser ($18.00). This product is an anhydrous formula loaded with enzymes, minerals, prebiotics and salicylic acid to gently get rid of dirt, debris and dead skin cells while cleansing deep inside the pores without irritating the skin. This cleanser also warms up upon application for a deeper pore cleansing experience.

I will say that I do like this product for cleansing. It actually does warm up on the skin once applied, but I don’t find that it gets to the point where it is so hot it is uncomfortable. I like it because it clears up any blackheads on the nose area for me. I don’t think this necessarily is a good product to clear up acne, but it is a good product to cleanse the pores of residual makeup. However, when I remove my makeup, I use a makeup remover wipe first and then cleanse. I found that this was not enough to actually cleanse my skin of the residual makeup itself. So, I used my normal cleanser to remove leftover makeup and then used this afterwards to cleanse my pores. Overall, I liked it.

The next product is the Skinn Cosmetics Palette of Perfection The Must-Haves (opened palette pictured above). According to the website, this product contains everything every woman needs for a complete makeup application in one perfectly organized, portable, convenient and elegant compact. This palette includes: blush (2), translucent powder (1), concealer (2), eyeliner (2), eyeshadows (12), lip color (12), and lipgloss (2). The formulations for these products are all anti-aging, talc-free treatment colors designed to create a beautiful face. Purchased alone they would cost over two-hundred dollars, but the palette itself is $42.50. I really dislike the design of having eyeshadows/powders in the same palette as lipglosses, just because the powder falls into the gloss. However, starting on the left side of the palette I will review the products.

The blushes are nicely pigmented. The lighter one doesn’t show up that well on my skin, so if you have fair skin this may be a nice color choice for you. The translucent powder is actually translucent and doesn’t leave an odd whitewashed effect on the skin. The concealers are not very pigmented at all, not concealing enough. I think if you have a tan or darker skin tone, the concealers will obviously not work for you. The eyeliners are very pigmented, but not good for use on the waterline. They also apply a little odd; it’s almost as if when you go over them with your brush, you wipe away a little bit of them, fading a bit throughout the day as well. The lipglosses on the lower right corner of the palette are not too sticky. I did notice the pink was a bit stickier, and very sheer, with slight glitter in it; the brown is a very dark brown, which got darker once I swatched it. Perhaps it had a lighter brown overspray? I’m not sure, but it wasn’t wearable with my skin tone.

The right side of the palette provides twelve lipglosses which are all decently pigmented. Some of the darker/brighter shades are more vibrant than the others, but I found that on the lips some of them did not pull through as strong of a color as say a lipstick. Nevertheless, I like the formula of the lipsticks. The bottom half of the right side also provides twelve eyeshadows, which are very pigmented and absolutely gorgeous. You get a very nice matte blending color, as well as a light shimmer all-over-the-lid type of color. It doesn’t provide too much of “smokey” colors other than the dark blue and the dark brown; it’s a nice mix of finishes, and some of the more satiny shades are very nice. There are no shades with real shimmer (with the exception of the lid color), and none of these are glittery. They have great lasting power as well with no creasing or fading.

The next product is the Plasma Flawless Finish Powderless Touch-Up Skin Perfector ($30.00). This product claims to be completely flawless and completely undetectable. Wrapped in micro bubbles of argan, flax and rose hip oils, this product mattifies and blurs pores and imperfections, and will not cake or settle like ordinary powders.

This product is absolutely amazing! I have seen other products similar to this from other high-end brands and been dying to try one. It’s great to touch-up throughout the day, as opposed to reapplying powder, and definitely gets your skin back to a matte condition. This is great if you have combination to oily skin! I simply put the included puff into the product and then dab it on to my skin on the areas I want to touch up and voilà — a completely perfect face as if I had just applied my makeup. This product is genius and definitely worth its weight in gold!

For eyes and lips, Skinn Cosmetics has created a Waterproof Smudge Stick/Eye & Lip Pencil ($15.00). These products can do it all: line, smudge, shadow or color. They are water-resistant, transfer-resistant, and last all day long. There are ten shades available. In the photograph of the swatch, the top row, left to right: Cleopatra Black, Royal Indigo, Egyptian Clay, Sultry Slate and Golden Plum. Bottom row, left to right: Plum Dandy, Venus, Prose, Whisper and Moonlit. These products are all designed for the lips/eyes except the following are designed for lips only: Prose, Plum Dandy and Whisper.

Moonlit is a light and pearly shimmery shade, perfect for inner corners; Venus is a great bronze. Golden Plum is a metallic smokey plum; Royal Indigo is an extremely deep blue; Sultry Slate is a medium to dark gray; Egyptian Clay is an extremely dark brown; Cleopatra Black is the blackest black; Prose is a nude mauve color; Plum Dandy is a plum and Whisper is a warm cognac color.

In so far as how these products apply, they are super-pigmented. They do not wash or rub off. (See photograph of vigorous rubbing with a baby wipe; for the most part, they are still there! Obviously, you would not rub your eye that hard throughout the day!) I love to use these as bases. Even when used on the waterline they produce minimal wear, and if you set your liner with a shadow on the waterline, it won’t budge all day. I will note that I dislike the packaging. When I opened two of these, the entire stick of product fell out and onto the table. It may have just been knocked around when being mailed, but just something to note.

The product itself is great, but I think they are a tad bit too large to use as a liner. Since there will be no way to sharpen them — once they wear down a bit — it would be hard to get a very thin line for eyeliner. Nevertheless, you could rub an angled brush on them and use it that way. The color selection is amazing and there is nothing I dislike about this product (other than packaging/size issue).

Lastly, the Twin Set – Collagen Boost Lipstick & Wet Lips Gloss ($18.50). These lip products are packed with vitamin E, soy and aloe to soothe dry lips. I like the design of these products; the cap for the lipstick seems a little less than snug, so I would be concerned about it falling off in my purse. The two shades that I have tried are One Perfect Shade (AM) and One Perfect Shade (PM). The AM is the most beautiful, unique color I have seen in a long time. It’s hard to describe: it’s sort of a nude but has gold shimmer in it. It’s nothing like anything else that I have. Super-wearable, and lasts a long time. The PM shade is a wonderful, wearable red; it’s not too bold, not too dark or bright, but just perfect. Very classy.

I also wanted to add that the scent of these products is absolutely amazing! They smell like cherry Starbursts in my opinion! Finally, Dmitri James has put together a great book titled Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls. This book will show you how to turn up the heat and add sex appeal to everyday situations. The price of this book varies depending on where you purchase it from, but it was available, new on Barnes and Noble for $18.95. This book offers fashion and makeup tips and advice using Skinn Cosmetics, and also offers complete look ideas. It’s also has some quite humorous moments in it. It was an overall great read, very cute.

All of these products and more are available at www.skinn.com. Overall, there was nothing that I didn’t really like at all for this bunch of products that I reviewed. The Under Eye Decrinkler didn’t really work for me, but, other than that, everything else was mostly fabulous. Another great set of products from the Skinn Cosmetics line!
