(Review) Elizabeth Arden Debuts Prevage Clarity Skin Tone Corrector

I’ve got the cleanser, toner, and correct moisturizer in my medicine cabinet. I’ve even got a specialized anti-acne regimen that I’m pleased with and that is finally doing its job right. But the scars? I’m really not loving the scars.

My dark spots and skin discolorations look more embarrassing than anything else on my skin — even that pesky zit. When I leave the house I want to hide my face under a lamp shade and inevitably end up layering several shades of foundation and concealer with the vain hope that my spots don’t resemble those of a jungle cat. Spots are not feminine; in fact, I really think they’re quite vulgar.

Have I tried a lot of the skin-tone correctors on the market? You bet your bottom dollar. I was very fond of Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector and loved it, but I do have to say that I love the new Prevage Clarity Skin Tone Corrector by Elizabeth Arden a tad bit more because it works at the speed of light. Or at least, the speed of sound.

Formulated with Idebenone and Soy Ferulante-C,the packaging promises to give a bright boost to the skin and helps minimize the visible signs of aging including freckles, discolorations and dark spots. The price is $125. When I applied it on my dark spots (acne scars, to be precise), I wasn’t expecting to see much of a difference the next day, but I was surprised. I left a thin film of it overnight and woke up to distinctly brighter skin. My spots looked NOTICEABLY lighter, and I decided to continue the treatment. After 3-4 days, my discolorations had rapidly faded, to the tune of 40%.

The bottle says it is a targeted skin tone corrector, and the Idebenone fights off free radicals while preventing the signs of anti aging. It also says you’ll see dark spots begin to fade in 14 days, but in my experience it was a lot sooner than this.

The one thing I will say, when comparing this to a product like Clinique’s Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer is that the latter has SPF, and that is always a plus when you step out into the sun. The latter also helps build the skin’s barrier, and you’ll need to decide if you want a potent antioxidant with the lightening benefits of soy that really works (the Prevage) or the added benefits of building the skin’s barrier functions. I definitely will say that the Prevage also has the moisturizing component too, even though the packaging does not overtly advertise this. The skin is not stripped of moisture and the Skin Tone Corrector feels cool and soothing.

I am, in short, addicted, because it delivers all that it promises and then some. It works quickly and is attractively priced. At $125, you can’t go wrong (try a sample size first if you’re unsure of its benefits). A win win from Elizabeth Arden who believes that we can change our spots.

I am 42 and have never been able to use a moisturizer because everything made me break out. Now I don’t know what happened lately to my skin but it just “exploded” overnight. I went from fairly decent looking skin to dark spots, red blotches, fine lines, not so funny deeper looking laugh lines, dull and rough looking skin. Oh and I also got dry pimples again. Then I did some research and read about Made from Earth’s skincare products, which are recommended for sensitive skin. Thank goodness I tried their Vitamin Enhanced Face Firming Serum. My dark spots after one week are sincerely lighter, my laugh lines (with the help of an additional peptide cream) are almost gone. As for me breaking out because of the Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E ingredients that did not happen; in fact my pimples are gone as well. I will stick with Made from Earth since it took 10 years off my face according to my husband who said that my skin looks smooth and soft again.

You’re comparing the wrong two products. You can never compare a moisturizer to a serum and expect the same results. If you read the proper manual when making your purchase you would see that it states clearly that the Even Better moisturizer “includes” the even better serum..meaning a (portion) of the serum but not the full serum itself. If you were comparing the Even Better serum and Prevage Clarity then it would be a fair assesment if one exceeded the performance of the other. I’ve worked for both companies and have seen results from them both. But keep in mind that while both products even the skin and break up discoloration, they still perform differently and have different benefits. Apples and Oranges
