(Review) Estee Lauder Debuts New Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator

If there’s something I can’t stand…it’s uneven skin tone. It rubs me the wrong way, and this really means everything from blotchiness to acne. In fact, no amount of careful foundation layering can conceal the true nature and texture of good skin.

I’ve tried a lot of products over the years, and found that the more I searched, the less I found. Like a true light at the end of the tunnel, I knew that once I found a product that absolutely did what it said, and performed the way it was supposed to, I wouldn’t really need to find anything else.

In just two weeks, the new Estee Lauder Even Skintone Illuminator (the first fast acting serum that addresses these issues for all ethnicities and skin tones) showed it reduced uneven skintone. The new serum also instantly illuminates the skin to make it immediately radiate, using the Triple-Optic technology. There’s also a CorrectTone Technology that combines proven anti-aging and anti-spot ingredients.

The packaging says that even the very first application will make you see significant results. Seeing is believing, and I loved the no slip, instant results, true to life performance of the Idealist Skintone Illuminator.

The scent is actually very subtle – the signature Idealist scent which is a blend of luminous floral and sparkling citrus notes. A 30ml bottle will retail for $58, and a 50 ml bottle retails for $85. These will be in stores nationwide in June 2011.

Estee Lauder is known for capitalizing and enhancing its past successes (think Bronze Goddess). The Idealist line includes our favorite, the Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher, as well as the Refinishing Eye Serum.  Both have very silky textures, and the new Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator performs the same way.

I’ve been using my serum for a day now, and love the feel of it. It’s also non greasy since it contains zero oil. If it can do for my skin even a fraction of what it promises on the box, I would have found my Holy Grail, all for an extremely worthy price.

I am nearly 50 and still acne prone. I purchased this product nearly a month ago to help fade old acne scars. It has not worked for me. The scars are still there, but it seems my overall complexion is developing a ashy tone. Additionally, although I use a moisturer 20 minutes after applying the Illuminator, my skin feels dry and fine bumps are beginning to develop on my cheecks.

I applied Idealist the very first morning I had it. The fragrance was lovely and it felt like silk on my skin. When I ended my day and looked in the mirror there seemed to appear two horrible, and very obvious frown lines. They were so noticable I felt it impossible for me to not have noticed them previously. The next morning I decided I was paranoid and foolish, so I applied the product again. When I got home that night the previously very fine lines around my eyes had turned into out and out crows-feet. Was Idealist the cause of these (literally) overnight changes? For a fact I will never know, but there is no way I will ever apply it on my face again. I am useing a great product, Strivectin, in hopes it will help me as it has in the past. Meanwhile, I look ten years older in 2 days then I did 3 days ago, and I am stuck with $100 worth of poison. Buyer-beware!

I have been trying it for three weeks, so far my skin feels nice and soft, seems like it is illuminating my skin. We spend so much money for everything else, why not 60.00 for my skin that I will always have!

I have very sensitive, pale, acne-prone, freckled skin with rosacea. Most products, especially very “chemically” ones, are especially rough on my skin. I still purchased the LadySoma Renewal Serum on a whim in an attempt to lighten the new age spot on my cheek and was very happy with the results.

I can’t use it EVERY night, as it causes the rosacea to flare up, but using it every other night has evened out my skin tone, did not break me out, lightened my age spot and some of my lighter freckles!

I no longer have oily and dry spots on my skin either- something I’ve dealt with my entire life.
