Microbiomix is a patent-pending blend of proven ingredients that work with your skin’s microbiome for optimal performance. What are microbiomes? Good question. Microbiomes are also called skin floras or microbiotas. We all have it, inside and out. A microscope would show you that our skin has its own ecosystem of over 1,000 different types of bacteria and other microorganisms living on it. They serve a very important purpose acting as our first line of defense against pathogens reducing the chance for infections. They also keep the skin barrier intact, protect it from inflammation, balance the PH of the skin, among many other things. Your microbiome is as unique to you as your DNA.

Microbiomix keeps the skin microbiome in balance by:

  • Feeding the friendly bacteria with prebiotics to help them thrive
  • Adjusting the skin PH to its physiological level with postbiotics
  • Deactivating the odor-causing bacteria with targeted ingredients

Sweating is a natural and necessary process but Kinko claims it doesn’t have to lead to any odor. Sweat is initially odorless and it’s only when in contact with specific bacteria that odor is produced. Antiperspirants block pores to prevent sweat from coming out but they also have a negative impact on the skin’s microbiome, especially on friendly bacteria. Traditional deodorants basically work like weapons of mass destruction, wiping out both the good and the bad bacteria on the skin with antimicrobials and alcohol. Natural deodorants also disturb the skin microbiome and the acid mantle with ingredients such as baking soda. And, most of those products try to mask body odor with fragrances or essential oils, which contain allergens. But, by balancing the skin microbiome, Microbiomix claims to bring a novel and safer approach to the prevention of body odor.

Microbiomix claims:

  • Soothes and conditions the under arm area, so no rashes or breakouts
  • Long-lasting for 24-hour odor protection
  • Body responsive to work harder when you need it most
  • Free of aluminum, fragrance, preservatives, or harmful ingredients
  • Oil-free, and will never stain your clothes
  • Sheer, non-tacky formula
  • Vegan

I tried the product for several days, applying it in the morning after I’d showered and before I’d dressed. I deliberately wore it on hot days – 80 degrees and above – to test its effectiveness. It went on easily – the roller ball applicator is a good size to ensure easy coverage. The formula was almost weightless, with no scent, which I liked since it didn’t compete with the fragrance that I wanted to wear. It was quite effective and kept me fresh and odor-free all day. Clearly the company is onto something and I am going to make this part of my daily regimen!

I just came across this deodorant via an Instagram ad (like so many other things that hook me, haha!) and now your review. I am very intrigued and would love to try it! I struggle with odor more than sweating, so would be overjoyed if it helps with that issue. ☺️
