Review: Sebamed Face & Body Wash, Moisturizing Cream, and Body Lotion For Healthy, Balanced Skin

Having skin that easily dries out with the use of soap, my interest is always peaked when I come across soap-free cleansing options. The latest one to be featured in my skin care routine is sebamed’s Liquid Face & Body Wash from their sensitive skin line. It is 100% soap and alkali-free, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and contains vitamins and allantoin. It also claims to be cruelty free, almost completely biodegradable and to have the same pH as healthy skin, 5.5. Every product in the sebamed line is formulated to contain a pH balance of exactly 5.5, which they note is essential in maintaining the skin’s natural hydro-lipid barrier against environmental stress.

I’m usually skeptical of multi-purpose cleansing products (i.e., shampoo-and-conditioner-in-one, body and hair wash, etc.), but gave it a go. Its pleasant scent got the first points, making me think of tranquil ocean waters. It lathers nicely and leaves both face and body skin feeling gently cleansed. I did notice that in drier, cooler weather, it felt like it dried my combination/oily skin out. However, followed up by applications of sebamed’s Moisturizing Cream on my face and Moisturizing Body Lotion everywhere else, balance was restored. The scented moisturizers are also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, with vitamin E and chamomile extract and allantoin respectively.

I would recommend the Liquid Face & Body Wash alone for use in the warmer months since it is a little drying in cooler temperatures. I found that in the heat and humidity of summer, when my face’s oiliness is in overdrive, it is more effective for me and can be used by itself. A nice bonus of its multitasking properties is that it’s good for travel—especially to balmy tropical destinations—with one less product to pack. For the drier fall and winter months, using the moisturizers with the wash is a must.

I am waiting for a sample of the sebamed’s Moisturizing Cream but have tried the vichy night cream… a bit heavy for morning, but i do like my skin when I wake up. I am hoping to find a good day moisturizing cream to put into my routine. Thank you for the chance.
