Hmmm… CowShed, an interesting name to say the least. I’m not going to lie, I really couldn’t wrap my mind around the name when I first received the package, especially since I haven’t heard of the brand before. So, before I jumped to conclusions, I decided I would look into the brand.

CowShed products were actually “born” in an old cow shed at Babington House, Somerset in 1998. Their first spa was opened and the rest is definitely history. CowShed is a spa and skincare product line that takes the formulations of their products very seriously, using thoughtful scents to enhance your mood with indulgent textures and body products that truly make a difference.

“Our belief is that there are few things in life better than an English country garden and continue to be inspired by mother nature.”

“The scents, colours, botanical ingredients and herbal remedies remain the basis for our ever-expanding range of honest and natural products, made in England using the very best organic, wildcrafted and fairly-traded plant extracts and essential oils.”

After getting a little more information on the company and their products, I was very excited to dive in and try out the goodies. I received the CowShed Best of the Best Gift Set ($64.00). It includes 5 of their most popular from their line. Each product came in an array of sizes from travel-sized, purse-sized and full-sized, which allowed me to really try out each product well enough to come to my own conclusion.

Wild Cow Invigorating Bath & Shower Gel ($25.00) has essential oils of lemongrass, ginger and rosemary. This shower gel doesn’t have a particular scent to it; it smells clean while a hint of ginger and rosemary tickled my nose, but not an overpowering scent at all – very light in fragrance.

I especially loved to use this shower gel in the morning when I needed to “wake up” and get my day started. I felt really rejuvenated, like I just drank a soothing cup of tea — refreshing but still relaxed.

Knackered Cow Relaxing Perfume Oil Roll-On ($26.00) has essential oils of lavender, eucalyptus and chamomile. Now, I’ll admit when I first saw this particular product and read the essential oils it had, I thought it would smell like a medicine cabinet — but I turned out to be very, very impressed.

The scent that this roll-on perfume gives off is light, though you can smell the eucalyptus; it still has a soothing scent to it. The scent did last quite a while and for me it was perfect to rub a little on my neck on nights when my asthma was acting up, or if I had a hard time sleeping.

There is a warning on the box that states: Due to the high ratios of essential oils used in this product, a skin test is advisable. If you are pregnant or breast feeding, seek advice when using essential oils.

Also available in 1.69 fl oz for $11.00 (above)

Cow Pat Moisturizing Hand Cream ($25.00) has essential oils of grapefruit and coriander. You can definitely smell a light hint of grapefruit in this hand cream. It is a white lotion with a creamy texture. It is not quite thick, but yet still seems to moisturize my skin very well.

A little does go a long way with this product, as it soaks into my skin very nicely. You can smell a hint of coriander, though I do not consider it to be overbearing. This cream has long-lasting moisturizing benefits, so I think it is a great buy.

Lazy Cow Soothing Body Lotion ($28.00) has essential oils of jasmine, chamomile and sandalwood. You can definitely smell the light hints of jasmine and chamomile — and I especially like that the sandalwood scent is not as prominent as I had expected.

My body loved this lotion and felt quenched and definitely softer. This body lotion is a cream color with nice texture to it; it has enough body to it and still soaks into your skin really well. It soaks into my skin fairly quickly without having to worry that it will rub off on my sheets. I also feel moisturized when I wake up in the morning, which is a huge bonus because some lotions do not offer that and tend to lose their moisturizing power and benefits through the night while I toss and turn.

Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm ($8.00) has essential oils of sweet orange oil, rose geranium and ylang ylang. Now, this Lippy Balm has made my favorites over the last couple of weeks and I will continue to buy it. It doesn’t have much of a scent or flavor to it, which I was a little bummed out about when I first applied it, but I got over that very very quickly after the first use.

It is probably one of my Top 5 Favorite Lip Balms of all time! I can apply this lip balm to my lips in the morning and have moist, supple lips throughout the day and into the night, without reapplying. It has an amber tint to it, but that does not transfer to your lips at all – it’s because of the essential oils in the product, I’m sure.

Overall, I’m very impressed with CowShed products. Now that I know exactly what is behind the company and how awesome their products are, I will try to never doubt a name again.

There are a lot of different Gift Sets and products available on their site (www.cowshed.com) for you to take a look at and try. What I love the most about CowShed products is that they do take the natural approach when it comes to formulating their products.

Every CowShed product contains a high ratio of premium quality essential oils, providing the therapeutic benefits for which the range is known for. This brand has really assisted in me getting a few extra nights of sleep… which is a big deal. Its calming benefits alone are what make me so excited about the brand itself.

You see, I’m a “vampire” they say… because I never sleep. Call it stress, or waking to every sound that my children make while sleeping, I have a really hard time winding down sometimes and these products proved that a good night’s sleep can definitely be achieved with some herbal remedies.

Love the Cowshed Products especially the knackered cow range. Such a fun bunch of products to have in my bathroom.
Had real trouble finding them as i live in Australia ( We really struggle here sometimes to get the best brands ) I eventually had a friend send me some from England but recently I have found them at http://www.alsoknownas.com.au who are based in Melbs. Thanks for bringing these products to my attention

Have to disagree re Cowshed! Bought Bath and Shower gel as a pre Christmas treat and massive disappointment. Doesn’t bubble up, no scent. Either a duff bottle or a total rip. Either way, might as well flushed £20 down the loo. Sorry guys. I love Babbington House but this didn’t match the promise. V disappointing. Caroline b
