We’ve all seen the articles last month on sun tanning and skin safety. What many people forget is the major importance of eye health. Sun damage also leads to those unsightly crow’s feet and wrinkles, ladies (believe that!).

Since my teen years, I have been a huge fan of sunglasses; I feel that they are a major accessory that makes quite the fashion statement. I never leave home without them. Even if it’s raining, they’re in my bag. They are my favorite must-have accessory!
I was offered a free LensCrafters full eye exam and the choice of my own Rx sunglasses! I wear Rx and reading glasses, as well as ONE contact (yes, one, in my right eye.)

LensCrafters gave me the best 5-star eye care treatment: I had TWO eye exams. The first one being a traditional vision test: visual, glaucoma, depth perception etc., and the second which included retinal imaging Optomap (seen above), which scans the back of your retina and detects serious health issues such as cholesterol, high blood pressure, lime disease, holes in your eyes, diabetes, tumors or any foreign conditions. These problems can go undetected for years, as there are no pain receptors in your eyes.

Once my Optomap exam was done, the amazing LensCrafters staff showed me the massive selection of designer sunglasses to choose from. I love oversized frames, they allow me to protect my eyes from squinting and glare.
The biggest frames I found to my liking were the Coach and Ralph Lauren frames, so I ended up having to choose from three. I went with choice #2: the oversized Coach pair with tag logo in rhinestones! But it didn’t end there!

My shades kind of slid down my nose a bit, so adjusting was in order. Finally, LensCrafters recommended I polarize my Rx Sunglasses, to prevent glare while either at the beach or driving. Best decision ever! And I must say that I put it to the test over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Driving is also not a problem, as I find myself not squinting as much as I did with my regular sunglasses. I am actually considering taking ALL of my old sunglasses to LensCrafters and adding my prescription to them!
A couple of weeks after my LensCrafters experience (we had tons of laughs!), I received this amazing “thank you” summer essentials gift bag that contained a personalized beach bag (with my initials on it!) filled with sun safety goodies.
