As we age we lose collagen and, as a result, get wrinkles that make us appear older. Dietary intake of collagen peptides has been “scientifically proven” to enhance formation of collagen in the dermis layer of our skin.

Regularly replenishing certain amino acids by drinking hydrolyzed collagen drink (Beauty Nectar) replenishes and maintains healthy amounts of collagen in the skin and produces a noticeable anti-aging effect to the skin.

Heidi Gilchrist, MD, board certified dermatologist and known beauty expert, and Sarah Ehrlich, founder and CEO of Ashieda, LLC, let us know the benefits of making Beauty Nectar part of our lives.

What Is Beauty Nectar?

Ashieda‘s Beauty Nectar is a dietary supplement that contains hydrolyzed collagen proteins. Consuming extra amounts of the specific amino acids that make up collagen has been shown to increase collagen production by the body, resulting in more hydrated, glowing, younger looking skin.

What Are The Ingredients?

The fact that Beauty Nectar‘s liquid collagen is “hydrolyzed” is important — that means it has been broken down into smaller pieces that are digestible and useable by our bodies.

Beauty Nectar is not a vitamin supplement, although it does contain vitamin C, which serves as an antioxidant to protect the collagen that already exists in our skin. It also contains resveratrol, a potent antioxidant found in the skin of grapes. Beauty Nectar also includes the following ingredients:

Orza Ceramide PT — Enhancing the moisturizing ratio by forming a skin protecting barrier and tightening skin tissue alignment.

Kiwi Seed Extract — Contains abundant w-6 essential fatty acids and vitamin E for additional anti-oxidation.

Ashieda promotes a natural lifestyle, including a mostly plant-based diet of whole foods (green leaves, whole fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds for healthy fats, and lean sources of protein such as tofu and fish). The Beauty Nectar is meant to supplement a healthy diet, not replace it.

 The Results?

Ashieda‘s Beauty Nectar is in the middle of a 12-week clinical trial (the first here in the US!) and the results are quite promising so far. Studies have been completed in both France and Japan (2008 and 2009) with very good data about increased skin hydration and decreased fine lines.

The studies in Japan and France showed:

– An increase in skin hydration levels by 28% in about 90% of subjects
– Fine lines decreased by 26% at 12 weeks
– Skin suppleness increased by 19%

I’ve tried liquid Aloe Vera supplement but didn’t really see a big difference. I would be really interested to see the results of the trials currently running.
