That flip! Those piercing blue eyes! That smile. Farrah Fawcett has been a fashion and beauty icon since her Charlie’s Angels days. BeautyStat.com wanted to help immortalize her look by learning how to bring her ‘70s style into the 21st Century. We went to the Pierre Michel Salon in NYC to create a more modern Farrah hair and makeup look that we could wear on a daily basis. The signature look is versatile as it adds volume with layers, dimension with bangs, sun-kissed color and flintiness with the bounce and curls!

With the 5th anniversary of Farrah’s untimely death being today, June 25th, we would like to celebrate her life by offering you step-by-step directions on how to re-create a modern Farrah Fawcett look at home with some of our favorite products. Read on!

When I was first given the opportunity to turn my long brown hair into the bountiful blonde curls that was Farrah’s, I a was a little hesitant. I don’t have layers and usually keep my hair in braids, but the salon’s legendary Hairstylist Theirry Brunet, who had worked on Farrah’s hair, was up to the challenge. He sprayed some prep spray into my dry hair and proceeded to use a curling iron to create some flirty, loose curls.

Once that was done, he took a smaller curling iron to turn my bangs into the Farrah flip! I was immediately transformed into a dreamy ‘70s starlet. Add some hairspray and there you go! But the one thing you have to do is use your hands to scrunch and add even more volume! Theirry really got in there and even took some random pieces, scrunched up to add untamed volume.

Next, it was off to makeup. The salon’s Celebrity Makeup Artist Monika Crouch explained that Farrah’s look was simple and clean. In the ‘70s it was all about pale, glossy lips, clean, shimmery eyes and lots of bronzer.

My face was cleansed with Bioderma Créaline H20 and moisturized. Then, she applied Shiseido ‘Perfect’ Hydrating BB Cream to create a luminous and even complexion. To get that bronzed out look, Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is the perfect cream bronzer that when applied to your cheekbones, forehead and high points of your face, creates a naturally sun-kissed look. Face Stockholm Crème Blush in On Hudson and Rome added some more definition to my cheekbones with the addition of some highlighting power.

Eyes in the ‘70s were usually left nude with gold and brown shades. No cat eyes here! Monica applied MAC Paint Pot Pro Longwear in Bare Study as a base and added Face Stockholm Eye Dust shadows in Reality and Curious. Some black liner helped to add some impact to the eye (but you can go without and rely entirely on your mascara) and loads of individual false lashes created that come-hither, but-wait-I’m-an-undercover-agent look. Lips are left ultra-glossy with a swipe of Face Stockholm Pot Gloss in Honest.

I absolutely adored Farrah on Charlie’s Angels! My father used to watch it with me. Lol. That always makes me laugh when I think about it. Farrah was a beautiful person inside and out. The woman was pure class. Even in her darkest hour she educated us all on colon cancer and how we all need to get checked. Thank you Farrah. Smart, Brave, and Beautiful.
