Ryan Mitchell, Senior Stylist at Cutler Salons, says:

“This is a typical pixie cut which is quite soft, similar to Emma Watson‘s and Michelle Williams‘ cuts; this is very elegant and feminine. The great thing about this cut is that it’s very versatile.

Here, Beyoncé is wearing her hair with a side part and brushed back, but it can also be worn brushed forward to create a completely different look.”

Ryan suggests that all different face shapes can rock this short hair look, too. When going for a cut like this, keep in mind if you have:

An OVAL face shape – the cut Beyoncé has is perfect for this face shape
A SQUARE face shape – make sure there is more length on top
A ROUND face shape – better to have a softer hairline with more length in front of the ears

If it is a wig, Michael Angelo, Owner and Creative Director of Wonderland Beauty Parlor, says:

“I’m not sure if it’s a wig or if that’s her without her wig/weave, but it looks GREAT! I just saw her show at the Barclay Center and her hair was a major feature of the show, so I wouldn’t get too used to it! The hair has its own choreography! I’m betting this was taken after removing a weave before putting a new one in…”

Which product can you use to recreate this look at home? Beyoncé has the answer right on her vanity that most likely helped her style the look!

Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll ($9.00) — a soft mousse that dries clean and soft without any residue. Great for dry color-treated or damaged hair, the natural glycerides, essential oils (sage, rosemary, henna and nettle) and moisturizers leave your hair soft and shiny.

Cut dryer time in half by applying Wrap & Roll liberally to wet hair, then wrap/set and dry as usual or let it dry naturally.

Devin Toth, Senior Stylist and Director of Education at at the Ted Gibson Salon, recommended another product to help keep your pixie shape:

“It’s important when going short to be fearless and go all the way, thus making the hairstyle accentuate the feminine shape of the head.

To help the hairstyle accent the head shape, use Ted Gibson Tame It Shine Lotion ($19.95) on the sides — this will make the style appear more slim and narrow as oppose to wide and bushy.”

I’ve been wanting to get a few wigs. Especially a wild HOT PINK! My natural hair is far too long and thick and I just can’t imagine being able to hide it well enough and pull it off as natural. Not that pink is natural, but to switch out or to have anyone believe the pink is my natural hair with temporary color. I don’t think I’d like anyone pulling off my wig and exposing my natural hair shortened or shaved or even all bunched up underneath. I feel my current frame, enlarged due to Cushing’s disease, is too large to pull off a pixie cut. I’ve been losing weight quick since my last pituitary tumor surgery, but now I’ve got lot of excess stretched skin and lack of tone. My muscles are so weak that I can’t even climb out of the swimming pool without steps and rails. I never imagined I’d be this weak by 34.
