Review, Before/After Photos: Living Proof Restore Collection – Increases Hair Strength, Softness And Shine

I’ve always walked past the Living Proof products in Sephora but never quite knew what to make of them. The packaging was clinical looking. Not in a bad way mind you, however, I wasn’t sure which product did what. Well, I was lucky enough to attend a training session with a scientist and marketing executive who were going to demystify and school me in the Living Proof hair regimen.

I had tortured my hair in the last few months — coloring, curling…bleaching (yikes!). All by myself I might add. Think yield sign yellow, brittle hair instead of luscious Madonna locks. Not pretty at all. I also ruined the texture of my hair, as it went from thick, smooth and soft to brittle, parched and just plain NOT ATTRACTIVE! I had used up every hot oil and conditioner in my  house to no avail. Well, the Living Proof team assured me that my hair could indeed be saved!

The latest Living Proof method consists of five products: Restore Shampoo ($28.00), Restore Conditioner ($28.00), Restore Mask Treatment ($42.00) — a special, once weekly ‘restore’ conditioner (which gets used for four weeks); Restore Targeted Repair Cream ($28.00) and Restore Revitalizing Spray ($26.00) with heat and UV defense.

The Living Proof team started off the presentation by starting with the basics: virgin hair has a protective layer that is intact and smooth. However, years of coloring and scorching hair makes the strands highly porous and unable to seal in moisture. Many products claim to do just that, but, in the process, hair gets weighed down with silicones and other volume-zapping ingredients. Living Proof has changed the playing field for hair care by introducing its weightless, moisture-controlling molecule: PolyfluoroEster, Living Proof’s patented molecule with its sulfate-free blend, creatine, and amino acid derivatives contribute to smoothing; hydrolyzed wheat protein and nourishing conditioning agents strengthen and protect. Last but not least, tucumua seed butter –basically, an essential fatty acids that enhances softness and shine.

Benefits of these ingredients:

– Reduce porosity by 100%
– 20x more resistant to breakage
– Increase softness, shine
– Target dry & damaged sites – root to tip
– Heal and seal cuticles after time

Of course, as with any product line you have shampoo and conditioner. However, I would like to put the spotlight on the special treatment products I have just so happened to fall in love with.

First product is the Restore Mask Treatment — a treatment to revitalize and repair frequently colored, over-processed and overstressed hair. This helps to return hair to a healthy state with a weekly treatment. My hair looked amazing — and its only been one treatment!  You use this intense treatment in place of regular conditioner once a week for four weeks.

The next product I fell in love with was the Restore Revitalizing Spray with heat and UV defense.  This product is a true multitasker. Not only can you use it on  wet or dry hair, it polishes hair; protects from heat styling AND gives your hair a UV umbrella. So, you never have to worry about your baby strands frying in the sun. I used this yesterday right out of the shower, and as I was heat styling my hair, I would spray then get the shiniest blowout! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.If you are unsure of which product to try, I would say definitely get this and the ampoules. You will be hooked. Trust me.

As a gal with thick, tangle-prone, parched hair I am all about moisturizing and smoothing. Living Proof  Restore Targeted Repair Cream restores moisture, SEALS SPLIT ENDS and has UV protection. This product boosts the cuticle layer; damage to the cuticle layer can lead to depleted ceramides, split ends and breakage. This wonder product can also be used wet or dry. It’s important to note that this cream replaces lost ‘cement’ to restructure the damaged hair, seal split ends and hold in moisture all while preventing 93% of new split ends from forming.

So, there you have it. A little scientific knowledge, but I believe that Living Proof has definitely backed up their ‘hair’ claim. My hair looks great! And I will spread the love to gals with dry, parched hair everywhere!

Products are available at Sephora, Sephora.com QVC, Nordstrom and Livingproof.com

So, tell me, are you going to be rocking UV protected, hydrated and all around fabulous hair this summer?
