I absolutely love seeing all of the new nail looks and upcoming trends each season. This year at the NYFW Fall/Winter 2015 shows, we were given a treat with everything from the boldest nail art with chains and beading to the most subtle nude colors and everything in between. There was a look for everyone, no matter your style.

Just how daring are you with your nails? CND, a leader in professional nail care took it to an amazingly new level for the season at Opening Ceremony, The Blonds, and Libertine.

To compliment the designer’s runway looks at The Blonds, CND created unique and over the top nails with handcrafted and dramatic embellishments with CND® Liquid & Powder and BRISA® Gel. Then, layers of high-shine color were applied using CND® SHELLAC® brand 14+ day nail color and VINYLUX® Weekly Polish. They were then accented with gold chrome accessories, textural elements and layering created serious dimension, while couture camouflage in industrial tones were embellished with hand-crafted molten paillettes. The bold 3D designs, which took a total of over 900 combined hours to create, were pierced, draped, laced, torn and burnt, perfectly accessorizing the Blonds theatrical collection.”

For the Libertine show, CND created golden nails with an array of unconventional materials including studs, shark teeth and chains “reminiscent of dripping gold”.

At Opening Ceremony, celebrity nail artist Naomi Yasuda and the CND team created nails with horizontal and vertical striping techniques using VINYLUX® Weekly Polish in an array of heavily pigmented Kodak-inspired colors including red, yellow, blue and purple. A decoupage technique was implemented to lay Jonze’s impactful black and white photography on the nail.

In contrast to the dramatic, nude nails were all the rage on the runways as well.

For a “modern and carefree” look at Rachel Zoe, nail tech Sunshine Outing used a custom white opal polish, named “Zoe” (not available for retail). To get the look, Outing applied ZOYA Get Even Base Coat to make sure nails were smooth for applications. Then depending on desired intensity, applied two to three coats of ZOYA in Zoe and finished with ZOYA Armor Topcoat and Fast Drops.

A little sparkle was added to nude nails at the Jenny Packham show. Michelle Saunders for essie created a pretty look by applying First Base coat, followed by Adore-a-Ball. To create dew drops , she placed sporadic dots of Tarte Deco followed by Summit of Style to each nail. Lastly she applied a sporadic dot of Summit of Style to each nail and finished with Second Shine Around.

The nails at the Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2015 show were created to match the “army of darkness” vibe from the collection. Michelle Saunders for essie did a ghostly obscure nail using two coats of Jazz, completed with Matte About You Top Coat.
