Find your nearest Make Up For Ever boutique through November 2nd to either #GetGlammed or #GetGhouled! But, before that, just to show you how amazingly talented Make Up For Ever’s pros are, we had them do a 15-minute zombie look on our Managing Editor, Theresa Romano! The Walking Dead fans can even get this Walker look at home with cosmetics already laying around your vanity table for a ghastly complexion, sunken eyes and cheeks and zombie bites aplenty.

The bright-eyed and enthusiastic Make Up For Ever Pro Artist Faina Rudshteyn loves all things gross and gory (think decaying flesh, excessive blood and… well, you get the picture). She was more than willing to give me a #GetGhouled look in seconds, showing me how to use some special effects Make Up For Ever products to make simple cuts and gashes in seconds!

I wanted to look like a freshly bitten zombie, so Faina went into her eyeshadow kit, try the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Palette, celebrating 30 years of artists with 30 personally picked colors. From mattes to intense pigments, you’ll have plenty of shades to choose from. Getting passed prosthetics, you can create a life-less look by simply contouring. DEAD TIP #1: Use neutral shades in the brown and green family to achieve a sick (in a bad way) look! Apply a taupe shadow underneath and around the eyes for a sunken eye effect. Add a mossy green shade as well to add depth and highlight those dark shadows we all try to conceal.

DEAD TIP #2: For hollow-looking cheeks, use a dark brown shade and sweep the color along the hollow parts of your cheekbones, down to your jaw. Fill in the apples of your cheeks with either white face powder or eyeshadow for skin that looks peaked and well, dead.

Now, on to the blood! DEAD TIP # 3: To look like a zombie just took a big old bite out of your forehead, your first step to mutilated skin is the Make Up For Ever Natural Plasto Wax, a natural wax that imitates the color and texture of flesh! This will give you the most realistic small-scale wounds and scratches. Faina used a small amount and rolled it in her hand to make it more pliable. She then applied it on my forehead and smoothed it out (with her long gel fingernails, which have become her favorite tools!), blending it well into my skin.

DEAD TIP #4: For the illusion of guts use cotton! That’s right! Faina pulled some cotton apart and glued it on top of my head within the man-made head wound. This will give your flesh wound some dimension, and as if pieces of juicy head guts are sticking out. To outline the gash, Faina used Make Up For Ever Aqua Black Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow to give it some dimension.

DEAD TIP #5: Make Up For Ever Coagulated Artificial Blood will make your skin crawl! Densely colored and with a lumpy consistency, this fake blood looks so real! Faina dabbed the blood straight onto the cotton and into the gash line, which completely took the wound from looking like cotton-head to visually upsetting. Finishing touches included stippling any remaining blood along the edges of the “bite,” making it look infected!
