25 Sep BeautyStat.com In October 2012 Health Magazine – What Ingredients Are Inside Your Moisturizer?
BeautyStat is having a very busy month in regards to appearances! Ron Robinson is now featured in the October issue of Health Magazine in their all-you-need-to-know editorial about moisturizer.
Ron explains in the article that although moisturizer comes in many different forms (lotions, creams, etc.), it basically comes in three basic types:
“Occlusives. Likely the first kind of moisturizer you ever used (think diaper balm), these create a barrier so moisture can’t escape. (It’s like shrink-wrapping a muffin so it stays moist). What you’ll see on the label: petrolatum, dimethicone, lanolin, mineral oil.”
“Emollients. These softeners smooth your skin by preventing moisture loss from cells. What you’ll see on the label: keratin, ceramides, stearyl alcohol.”
“Humectants. This type of super-moisturizer acts like a sponge, attracting water from deeper layers of the skin into the top layer to boost moisture. What you’ll see on the label: hyaluronic acid, glycerin.”

I just started getting into reading labels on all of my beauty products and food and it startles me some of the stuff that is in these comsetics/haircare/food ect…. Its great that Ron took the time to break it down and explain to all of us readers everywhere just exactly what type of moisturizers we are using and how to understand them when we are reading the labels! Very helpful and interesting! Thanks again Ron and Beautystat for a much needed lesson on moisturizer’s, what’s in them, and what to use them for!
