This smooth, lightweight Micro-Sculpting Serum from Olay Regenerist ($28.00) is said to offer “superior hydration” to “reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.” The exclusive formula is dermatologically tested, and won’t clog pores. It’s also fast-absorbing, non-greasy and fragrance-free. It’s suitable for all skin types (normal, dry, oily and combination) and can be safely used every day.

Olay’s Micro-Sculpting Serum contains pentapeptides, niacinamide (vitamin B3) and other anti-aging vitamins. Per the directions, I used the serum morning and night for a couple of weeks. I liked how quickly it was absorbed; it provided an excellent base for moisturizer and foundation. But I did not notice a significant difference in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I’d keep using it though, because I like the feel and performance of using a serum on a daily basis; it’s also very well priced and compares favorably with other more expensive serums.

The dermatologically tested Intensive Repair Treatment ($28.00) from Olay Regenerist, retinol based product claims that with eight weeks of use, it will reduce the look of age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. It also promises to hydrate the skin, repair the moisture barrier and, unlike other similar (and often more expensive) products, it does not cause drying.

I used this product twice a day on my aging prone zones (forehead, nasal-labial area and jaw line). True to its claim, it was was not drying, but it did definitely require the use of a moisturizer afterwards; on its own, it is not a great base for foundation.

Given the extravagant claims made and the reputation of Olay in general (I am a great fan of their products, and think they offer terrific quality and value), I really wanted to find the fountain of youth in this little tube. The actual result is mixed: I do think that overall my skin looks a bit brighter and more youthful, but I did not notice a real difference in terms of either lines or wrinkles. So, I would keep using and hope the effects are cumulative.
